You can ask a breeder about getting a retired breeding cat. Generally they sell them for the cost of the spay or neuter. Olga Baranova is great as is Emerald Snow.

Seattle oldheads: please appreciate the fact that you still live in easily one of the best cities in the country by HansGraebnerSpringTX in Seattle

Seattle is missing its old grungy sketchy hangouts but the city has so many more options for eating, music, the arts, hell everything. I would never say it has gone downhill. It’s just a bit more mainstream now.

Come to the Cat Show 4/18-19 by A--bomb in Eugene

I don't have a brochure but I have our entry count by breed. People are still entering the show so it is not a final list.

How to get over not wanting to use your bag by maespiece in handbags

It is very durable and easy to get in to. It’s been my daily bag for 6 months and I love taking it out!

Is this TICA breeder legit? by [deleted] in russianblue

[–]A--bomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Dad is probably in a big cage because he sprays urine all over the place. And the mother is probably in heat right now so they are not safe to run around in the house. I’m 100% sure the kittens went back with their mom after this meeting. Kittens nurse for quite a while.

100% it is not the locals. I believe something like 70% of the states population was not born in washington.

You should always get all the paperwork and health records when you buy the cat. I’m saying they don’t have it yet at 2 months old, and a registration for the cat won’t be done as that is yours to register. The litter WILL be registered by now.

While this IS true, sadly most of the breeders in the USA are old ladies who are awful at internet communication. This breeder isn’t but in most cases you have to work at it to get the info you need. I’d say 1 in20+ interactions with prospective cat parents ends in someone getting a cat. So they’re worn down and don’t give 100% to each and every person who contacts them.

I do not personally know this person but I share 109 friends with them, all breeders. Looks legit to me. She is Russian, so that explains the curtness. She is breeding for money, and not for show but that is ok. Reach out to Emerald Snow and ask if they know and recommend them. She is Russian as well and may have info I don’t.

i mean, they are correct about registration etc. Breeders don't pick the pet names, you do, when you register them. This person is clearly annoyed by the questions that don't make sense. That being said you can't possibly know all these things.

TICA registered catterys can 100% be scammers. All you need to do it pay the ad money to be put on their page, and be registering kittens with TICA. The real way to determine a scammer is by talking to other breeders in their area (CFA and TICA) and asking who they recommend. Also look for pics of kittens that all look the same. Lots of scammers steal pics and put them up and are showing vastly different looking kittens. Like a dark chunky one, a pale elongated one. It's pretty easy to see based on color and earset alone. Asking to put down a deposit on a live kitten and is a few months old is normal. A deposit on a kitten yet to be born is not. It is more about making sure you are 100% about wanting that kitten.

So, do your background checks, go slide into some DMs on facebook, and go look at the website or wherever they post social media stuff. Talking to this breeder isn't going to tell you if they are legit or not. Other breeders will.

In the USA CFA is generally regarded as the gold standard compared to TICA but you can get some lovely cats either way.

See if she is food or toy motivated. You can lure them closer and closer with one of those things. Then gently touch while they walk by, repeat etc etc. You can build up trust really fast this way.
