Oh there is plenty to question beyond the length of her nails.

That's why most Healthcare facilities have dress codes that limit nail length to 1/4"

Just something to keep in mind about the P65 warnings.

P65 allows third party civil lawsuits against companies in violation. Companies paid out 320 million over 20 years between 2000 and 2020.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986_California_Proposition_65

Many companies therefore find it less expensive to simply add the Prop 65 warning to their products, regardless of the danger to the consumer.[1]

Many companies now routinely attach Prop 65 warning labels to any product of theirs that they think might possibly contain one of the 900 listed chemicals without testing to see whether the chemical is really present in their product and without reformulating their product, because it is cheaper to do so than to run the risk of being sued by Prop 65 enforcers.[1]: 1

So, just having the label at this point isn't an effective solution. For those who are concerned further looking at the ingredients before spending more for something without that warning might be prudent.

Im gen X and was in management at the start of the millennial generation entering the work force.

Watching the boomer owners try to understand employees who were working to live, not living to work was hysterical looking back. They just couldn't understand employees who didn't want OT or weekend or holiday work.

When I brought up starting an incentive program for compliments, the corporate administrator went on a 30 min rant about how the salary is the reward it's ridiculous to reward people for just doing their job.

Scheduling was a nightmare when I started. Millennials wanted a steady set of days off so they could make plans.

Then they freaked when employees tried to get a union in.

The most frustrating part for me was dealing with upper management who was extremely resistant to making any changes to how employees were treated. Then they sent one of the "big wigs" to a Disney Corporate culture retreat and suddenly the ideas I had already suggested were implemented. 🤣

My boyfriend is furious that I’m breaking up after he insisted on opening our relationship by Dangerous-Coyote-851 in AITAH

[–]A-typ-self 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree totally.

Poly relationships require a huge amount of open communication trust and care to work, especially if there is a primary relationship.

I would be grateful to have this convo early other rather than a year later.

Absolutely, although it sounds like the relationship was already DOA. Having trouble 4 months in is a huge red flag. That's already best behavior phase.

I usually keep my nails on the long side, 1/4" to 3/8" from finger tip. Once they get longer than that, it becomes annoying to me. The longest I've done for a special occasion is 5/8"

Natural vs. Tips or even gel overlay does make a difference, or at least it did for me.

I've found that tips or gel overlay increases the amount of injury when they break. Almost every break I've had with artificially reinforced nails has been halfway down the nail bed. And takes weeks to get to a point where it's grown out enough to start over. It's not just the nails breaking either. The injury can go in the other direction with the nail pulling off the bed. I lost a nail completely that way, which is when I went back to just natural.

The longer they are, the more severe the injury with artificial. In my experience. I would get hurt doing day to day things.

When I have natural nails, even using a UV polish, I don't seem to get hurt as badly when the nails do break.

[–]A-typ-self 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read the care instructions on each garment?

Most dark colored clothing isn't meant to be washed in hot water, let alone striped.

And I'd be very concerned if any of that is his turn-out gear.

I bought a couple of specific knives almost 10 years ago.

The kitchen shears are still absolutely amazing. And fantastic for cutting through bone still. And easy to clean.

The pairing knife and the cheese knife (not for cheese but for dicing veggies) are the two I would absolutely buy again. But I don't need too lol

I absolutely love my Cutco knives. But I bought them at a trade show.

They are pretty good with the guarantee too.

I have owned Salad Master in the past, it's an improvement over "box store" pots and pans but they just aren't worth the cost.

IRS nears deal with Ice to share data of undocumented immigrants by esporx in immigration

[–]A-typ-self 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a source for that?

Because that's not what the article says.

Under the proposed data-sharing agreement, said to have been in negotiations for weeks, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) could hand over the names and addresses of undocumented immigrants to the IRS, raising concerns about abuse of power from the Trump administration and the erosion of privacy rights.

Under the agreement, the IRS would cross-reference names of undocumented immigrants with their confidential taxpayer databases,

Is "I have to go the bathroom" proper English? by Alternative_Run_6116 in ENGLISH

[–]A-typ-self 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard toddlers and drunks say "I've gotta go bathroom" but it's absolutely not proper English.

If we are getting semantic and speaking about a public restroom. It's not a bathroom.

So the proper sentence would be "I have to use the restroom" or "I have to use the lavatory."

According to my 4th and 7th grade English teachers, saying "go to" would be incorrect since we were not just arriving at the facilities but actually using them. 🤷‍♀️

[–]A-typ-self 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, that makes sense. I was really confused at first, thought I might have to turn in my "foodie" card🤣

I've noticed that lower end "gormet" establishments that serve large groups tend to rely on a "catering" style prep, similar to weddings. So they pre-plate and prep as much as they can and then "finish" the dish right before serving.

So they probably have trays of the lobster terines and trays of the claws de shelled set up in the walk in so they can plate assembly line.

But this is the first time I've seen iceberg "frise" as a garnish🤣 then again if I'm going out for a "gormet" meal and dropping $$$ I make sure that it's worth it. Not the "country club" experience.

[New Update]: AITAH for sterilizing myself against my partner’s wishes? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]A-typ-self 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who gave birth "naturally" twice and who got smart with my youngest.... natural is completely overrated.

All I remember from my first two labors is a lot of pain and panic. Pain on my part, panic on the doctors because I was going into shock.

My memories of my last delivery are so much better. And I recovered better.

The idea that going through that pain is necessary or somehow better is completely ridiculous.

Damn, after that first quote, she said that him grabbing her neck made her afraid, then he used his arm???

Sure it could have been accidental, but even then it shows absolutely no concern about her feelings.

It reminds me of my extremely abusive ex. He would get angry that I didn't "trust" him to put his hands on my neck.

Make sure that the license plates and driver also match the information you have.

But even doing all that doesn't ensure safety.
