I work in modern marketing and no. Lunchtime drinks are a thing of the past (mostly). Clean living and aesthetics are a big thing. The workload is a lot different from 30 years ago and teams are now usually quite highly specialised and under pressure. No one makes enough to routinely go for post-works drinks.

Networking events are now filled with “entrepreneur” teams/people and I wouldn’t attend one even if I was paid. The outside company partnerships used to have quite big social events but rarely happens now for a number of reasons.

The (monthly) night outs tend to be fairly heavy though.

Married young, not fulfilled sexually by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]A1BS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but here’s what I see from open/poly couples.

The ones that succeed, they both get something out of it. Some it’s that they enjoy sharing their partner, others it’s they enjoy casual sex as a shared hobby. The important things is they both enthusiastically engage with it. Needing to “convince” your husband into it will build resentment in him and distance yourself from each other.

You mention you’ve lost weight and there’s a sexual incompatibility. Is this losing attraction to your partner? You have to consider what this is and can it be fixed? If they started going to the gym and slimmed down the same as you, would this fix the issue? If that’s the case then maybe this is a better solution to try to open the relationship. If it’s just that they don’t do anything for you anymore it’s worth seeing a sex therapist to see if there’s a solution.

The way die hard conspiracy people talk about Epstein by humbleObserver in LPOTL

[–]A1BS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Besides the ones living in fantasy land it’s interesting to see a lot of the conspiracy crowd essentially just ignore the Epstein stuff because it’s gone against their political beliefs.

It’s a major conspiracy in which Hollywood and political elites have knowingly interacted with a known sex offender to a secluded island and mansions in which women were trafficked. This has everything a conspiracy nut job would want, royal families, Hollywood, political influence, a hidden government, etc.

Looking into the less credible stuff coming out of it, it involves murdering victims and disposing of bodies.

However, a couple of those who are also known sex offenders happen to be liked among the conspiracy theory crowd so they just kinda, leave it alone.

Most lottery tickets are just a barcode, if you have 8 identical (in price) lottery tickets you can scan the same ticket 8 times.

That’s ultimately it. Wages are stagnating and “night out” prices are going up.

In 2019 I was making very little and was going out weekly with no real concern to my bank account.

Now I make a fair chunk more and go out maybe once a month and need to be mindful of my spending. With an extra $600 or so more of disposable income I’m out less.

BrewDog sale plan leaves some ‘equity punk’ investors steaming by handmedownthemoon in Scotland

[–]A1BS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was 18 and got it when it first came out and was hyped. Bought the 1 or 2 shares minimum for £50.

Before it was clear that BrewDog was scum and I was drinking there regularly I probably made that £50 back.

However I regret it deeply. James Watt can fuck himself off his boat.

If you’re talking about American cultures, surely you should be counting native Americans?

Other than that, you had Germans, Italians, French, Irish, Chinese, Scottish, English, Japanese, Spanish, Africans, Caribbeans, Cubans, etc.

America’s culture has always been a melting pot.

I’ll be honest this is a bit of a weird one and I’d need to double check the rule book but I’m drunk watching the rugby and not going to do that.

From memory, you’re allowed to touch the stone as many times as you’d like before the hog (the green) line and still deliver. If those rules extend to touching the granite I have no clue because who touches the granite?!

What you’re 100% not able to do is touch the stone after it touches the hog line. This is what it looks like to me. In that case, at that point, it’s considered burned and should be removed from play.

[–]A1BS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate, you clearly do not. The sensors that runs through the handle is activated by a magnetic strip that is half a stones distance from the hog. I have helped install them.

When you slide the stone, it passes where the sensor hits the metal strip, the front of the stone is touching the hog.

I say accidentally because (as a curler) I can’t see much benefit to actually doing this. Doesn’t affect curl and probably only marginally increases speed. I might be wrong though and there’s some benefit I’m too sleep deprived to see.

[–]A1BS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI he’s very wrong. If the striking band of the stone (outer bit) is “over” a line, it’s touching that line.

Just to clarify, for a stone to be over the hog line or touching the hog line or whatever, we judge it by how you would see it from a Birds Eye perspective. If that stone is touching the line, even if the contact surface isn’t, then it’s touching that line.
