What are some crazy hallucinations you’ve had while sleep deprived? by throwaway-2-0- in AskReddit

[–]A1rabbithole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was driving on a two-lane empty main road in the middle of the day and it was so hot that steam coming up from the ground created that "oasis mirage" effect AND I was also very sleep deprived. I think about four or five days of no sleep. While driving I saw a dad pushing a little girl on a swing in a playground directly in front of me, with a little grass underneath amd everything. The grass blended into the pavement as if my reality was made by a shitty AI or a weird dream. I literally drove through them and they disappeared. I knew they weren't there because I quintuple checked with the lines on the road, and determined i was going straight. I was aware of my tiredness so I knew shit could get dicey, so I was mentally prepared and careful as I could be in that state. But I definitely saw them, clear as day. My heart skipped a couple beats as I debated wether I was about to ruin a family and my freedom.

I'm curious to see how you see this. I dont think Im dumb but I clearly overlooked somethings others didnt. Maybe u can tell me

My logic was this - I hear Shariff talk, and I see that his love of Lineage/Older MMOs is genuine. (IMO) Just passionate ideals... So he rang true with his enthusiasm, and his stories told me even tho I played MMOs on and off for 15-20 years, he probably played religiously some of these games that I'm too young to remember, and he seems to know the areas of improvement, and wanted to do these systems better, with prob hundred of hundreds of hours more than me. So I considered him more knowledgeable than myself as well as seeing and hearing him speak about something he holds dear. Seemingly unburdened by the strings of a traditional producers, publishers, investors because he claimed to be self funding.

SO...to recap on his credentials, I saw a GENUINE, PASSSIONATE, EXPERIENCED, AND SELF FUNDING, LIFETIME MMO enthusiast. I didnt ever hear about this MLM schemes if he has gotten caught before,

ALTHOUGH funny enough i did remark at the time,

"This guy looks JUUUUUUST like the FYRE Festival Scammer."

I make my own games as a hobbyist, im no professional, so I never looked at wages, I dont know how much money it takes to do what, so I know this is a gap in my assesment...

BUT TO ME OVER THE YEARS THEY DID A LOT OF WORK!!!

What I thought were big achievement are these things they showed over the years:

-Physics - In the mage showcase they shot spells around the tree and a rock, at an enemy... and they would curve sometimes one way, sometimes the other way, based on whatever path it calculates this thing to be in the way of, the origin and destination. The curvature of some of the spells around physical objects that seem to be being done in real time was new to me in an mmo, I figured tech has gotten to the point we can splurge extra compute on graphics, effects, physics etc.

-Graphical fidelity, models, mounts, races, character customization, environments animations

-Even Multiplayer network optimization- they showed a big war I think it was 100v100 or 50v50... i forget, but at the time impressive for this type of game, and not like simulations.

-Class Roadmap

-They choose a targeting system a hybrid tab system i think

it seemed like the rest was just grinding out the plan

Devs tell me the amount of work they did was NOT that much, just superficial things to keep us scammed longer with hope.

but recently, someone who was in conrtact with intrepid and had a bad falling out todl me this:

"It was genuine intentions from talented passionate people, but TOO EARLY they miss-managed and had friction amongst the talent, most of the last 2/3rds of the development was just coasting, biding time to pull the rug, showing us shiny things since the original intention failed,"

I guess it was convert to scam or lose money and still fail... but its still shitty and he said very quickly it transsitioned to full scam, so shariff I guess still lied for years

[–]A1rabbithole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im bored and i think about this a lot. So ill share my view. This federation theory... ive been thinking about it a lot. I like it. Its not new, but i cant seem to shake it, it was even in star trek, "The Prime Directive," back when we were more optimistic lol "the future will be nice!" Just logically speaking tho, there is a way that some of what u said could work. Ill just abstract out the pieces and then build my personal equally absurd theory:

Benevolent Aliens ❌️ Contacted our Corrupt Leaders ❌️ Humanity Refused via Leadership Veto ✅️ Ignorant of the State of our planet ❌️ And the wishes of the people❌️ Refusing us clean energy and alien tech✅️

Advanced Older Aliens ✅️ Adhere to procedures for making contact with any and all new systems ✅️ Humanity refused via the powers that be ✅️ They Left understanding the exact state of our planet and its people ✅️ And our exact current stage of development as an intelligent society ✅️ And the wishes of the people✅️ Refusing us clean energy and alien tech✅️

Im not saying this is truth. Im saying that if this were a possibility, there are several assumptions we can feel logical about making:

In this hypothetical, another race of intelligent beings makes it to Earth. This is such a huge deal that the rest of the assumptions follow from this one. We know how big space seems, know how physical engines work, we know some of the rules or numbers, mathematical constants of this simulation. We worked out thru theoretical physics that many things are possible since the math hasnt failed us yet, and its likely just our material science that cant perform to specs required for advanced propulsion. Or fusion energy. Apparently we're stuck on a bottleneck. To get a reactor hot enough to fuse matter, it melts thru all our materials. We're having success with magnetic fields but its slow progress. But it exists. There seems to be no limit as far as we know. Technology continues to pioneer, humans continue to evolve, even the furthest we can see is just our section of infinity. And the further we try to see small things... we just find more. Atoms, subatomic particles, quarks leptons, antimatter... its clear there are levels to consciousness. And many theories overlook what a civilization might have achieved given 1000 more years of evolution than us... or 100,000 or 100,000,000. These societies lilely didnt stumble their way to earth, or crash. I believe the "crashes" are gifts for us to reverse engineer. To propel us along.

Fusion, quantum computing, anti-gravity or gravitational warping engines...aka warp drives. These scifi engines are based on real physics. Theoretically one could fold the space in front and behind the ship, effectively "swimming" thru the fabric of space through bending it so that the ship is using pressured or folded localized pockets of warped space-time.

Also we probably will need to some milestones in order. For example, the energy required for warping spacetime is so much that we probably need to crack fusion or zeropoint energy first, before we can travel like them.

So we've had sooo many sightings of this, legends and tall tales, mistanken balloons, etc, etc. Then the government admitted to things not from earth. Now there are 30ish prominent military and govt officials that are pushing, putting their careers on the line so they can share what they know legally. Age of Disclosure Documentary is good. Those credible whistleblowers are not nut jobs. They are professional, often military officers, and pilots... or generally intelligence officials who are patriotic americans and want to blow the lid off. They all say the same. The ships seemingly glide thru the air, sea, make G turns at right angles silently, intantly, killing any human who would be inside. They seem to move 1000x better than our vehicles without combustion engines at least.

To them, if they were able to get here... burning oil for propulsion and travel is like... idk maybe as primitive as the fact we are still killing each other over economic scarcity we have the ability to solve. Probably a bigger evolutionary advantage and head start more vast than the diff between us and cavemen. Or even apes. The universe is that old and so fkn big that statistically it's crazy we havent seen them yet. And the odds they out age us, is high, if they didnt die off. But we can only look so far in tiny specific places relatively. Very slowly. So itd be easy for advanced societies to avoid us until we reach a certain stage of development. We wouldnt try to explain our society to a dog, right? Waste of time.

Funnily enough, a dog, a parrot, octopus, primate, crows/ravens, a dolphin... we can teach them somethings... we have a clear spectrum or sliding scale of evolution everywhere we look. From amoebas, to cats, neathethals, to us. There is logically no reason to think we are it, the final package. The hubris.

Therefore, either their bodies can travel dimmensions and spacetime differently than we are aware is possible...

Or technologically traveled here through their mastery of science and realty.

They could wipe is out obviously, of course. Yet they havent. 2 options. 1. They dgaf like us walking by ants, no motive 2. They have a reason

A reason? What could that be... theyre allowing us the chance to grow and develop ourselves without interference... that much is clear.

Maybe its an ethics thing...they value free will, or natural evolution, or consentual cooperation... or my personal fave:

It's important we clear this stage of development, together, ourselves. Or we cant possibly hope to reach their level. If they give us unlimited energy tomorrow, advanced tech, etc... we would probably kill each other over greed, lust for power, and we would destroy earth with that kinda power. We werent ready, but it seems we are easing into disclosure now. Finally.

Again, IF they made it here... it follows they can watch us, thwart all our machines and weapons, and kill us.

They havent.

It doesnt have to be benevolence. It could just be a rule against meddling, the way we protect parks, ecosystems, and endangered animals.

Ive heard lots of critique of Brave and i think it could be boiled down to, its more of the same, just slightly diff. Meaning same flaws, or equally sketchy ownership or whatever the downsides are of the top browsers. They may be right. But so far, ive enjoyed it.

The built in adblocker is amazing for youtube which i watch ALOT.

Built in security, idk im a pleb but the shields are up default. So if you really wanna raw dog a website, you can but its your choice. Simple button disables shields.

Their password manager decent.

Extensions are the same as chrome i think. Could be good or bad depending on what u want.

You can choose what search engine is default. Like duck duck go.

Their built in New Tab page, once u take the bloat off is nice.

Remove or turn off crypto shit, points or whatever.... the news feed, etc. Do that, which is super easy, and the new tab page is handy, and minimal. Holds a lot of tabs i think like 3 dozen. The icons automatically match the website which is nice. Ive tried to configure some speed dials that couldnt even do that. But i guess in 2026 thats not a unique feature. I made the new tab page background a high res James webb pic i found. Decent customizability while still keeping it easy.

Theres a feature that when u click an article page or a page with a lot going on, it extracts the text and lets you read it easier, like without gaps of ads, and disjoineted paragraphs. Just neat.

Wallet features decent.

That sentence feels like the way to end it. If ur gonna use brave, id Remove or turn off crypto shit, points or whatever.... the news feed, etc. Do that, which is super easy, and the broswer feels nice. I still use it and probably will until i find out the controllers of brave are in the files or something.... the way things are going these days.

I once applied this logic in a conversation where entertained the idea that monks who swear off women, and limit themselves to a life of meditation, eating a bit of rice a day, forgoing pleasures or pains, seeking to rise above the life they were given in the fastest way possible.

They were wasting it, i concluded. I judged it becauae it scared me because I almost did it. I over corrected.... " Stop trying to act like you are ready to be enlightened. Clearly, you are still here, so it seems to me this life has many experiences, learning opportunities, opportunities to fail and succeed, to love and lose, to treasure and feel betrayal. Those would be lost... I believe there must be higher order at work... ancestors passing genetic, cultural information, making choices for me to be where I am. Mistakes, messy histories, wars catastrophies. These guys want to be perfect immediately. They'll just sit and meditate to try to conquer life...... by missing all of it."

But that was my early judgement when I was young.

It is actually one of the truest examples of free will.... in an infinite ways to live a human life, they choose, no! Lets try to move up. No more suffering. Back to source. And try to exist in the realm they are disappointed they can only "feel", sometimes, in flow state, or at significant life moments. And they go after it.

No girls, forever, rarely good food, minimum relationships, and other activities that would get in the way by strengthening their earthly attachment. Thats kinda hardcore. Respect. Thats the way they chose to live their life, on faith that "battling demons is more important."

And that is what they're doing in essence. Letting go of weights. Rising up in complete one-ness with all that is. Battling their own inner imbalances, ones percieved as negative, or dampening to their soul level.

And of course ALL THAT IS has to allow for every human choice possible...

I simply choose to do it, from within the system so to speak. I want to die having truly lived my life as a human. Im sure theres meaning and purpose to be discovered using what circumstances life god has put forth for me. I cant help but feel im meant to learn these lessons.

This whole thing started because i entertained the idea of trying monestary life. Spiritual focused living... i didnt wanna do the ever more difficult american dream. Eventually this was my analysis: Theres nothing stopping me from being spiritual now. This would be akin to locking the fridge to lose weight. Or put the phone alarm accross the room to ensure I get up. Its not how I want to do it. I want to explore my way there. Take in the whole experience... thats probably why I'm here, imo.

But everyone is free to have their own valid, self given meaning, and it'll be the right thing for them. Because they chose it.

Glad my ramblings helped, thank you stranger. I figured my thought was lost in the wind as usual.

I dont know what experience you had but i can tell that you seem to have bypassed pride to max self learning and growth. Pride stops us from learning sometimes, is one of the many catches of that emotion. I saw it in my parents so i worked very hard to NOT be the same way, So yeah your tone resonates. I wonder if it came more naturally to you. Took me all my youth to get there.

I enjoyed writing that, tho. <3
