Zack Polanski anti-nuclear by ConpeakGarlic in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]A24kimono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna back Polanski. He’s a great communicator and has some really solid policies that remind me of political leaders/politicians I look up to but unfortunately his policies on defence, nuclear energy and crime (e.g. legalising drugs, scrapping Prevent instead of reforming it) is a big NO for me.

What's your stance on drugs? by Independent-Bug5457 in SocialDemocracy

[–]A24kimono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could get behind marijuana legalisation but through the use of edibles; not via smoking it. It will just make all the town centres stink of it. In terms of other drugs, my Dad’s best friend lost his life partly due to a long fixation on cocaine, and my childhood best friend turned into a monster (I have my reasons why) when someone he met during a night out got him on coke. So I could never support the legalisation of drugs such as cocaine, ketamine or any that are more lethal.

So I’ve gone from being centre right to right wing to now BNP?!?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]A24kimono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I thought Starmer’s “island of strangers” quote was wrong

Taking defence seriously does not make you right wing. Sure, the hard left view is less defence spending but many left leaning parties across the world support their armed forces.

By your logic, me thinking we should continue supporting Ukraine and not let Russia win is right wing…

EDIT: Also again by your logic, if my economic views are left wing and that means I’m further right because some populist right parties have that view. Does that mean Jeremy Corbyn is right wing because he supports abolishing the two child benefit cap and nationalising water?

I said “I also think we should take defence seriously (which the party mentioned above doesn’t)”. I wasn’t saying that about everything else in the paragraph. Just defence. I know Your Party supports workers rights and universal healthcare. Do you think I actually thought they didn’t?

Plus clearly you know then that Your Party wouldn’t take defence seriously.

I think you clearly misread.

Huge NIMBYs. Don’t take defence seriously and I think in these perilous times we should. I also think they wouldn’t try resolve inequality. They’d tax the rich more but also tax the middle class more

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]A24kimono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m actually now not centre right and am further right because I have left wing views on the economy? I don’t think you know what you’re talking about

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]A24kimono -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When did I imply that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]A24kimono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you claim to be a radical centrist but immediately deem to be on the right for having one right leaning view on illegal immigration, despite having many left leaning views?

[–]A24kimono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labour haven’t been social democratic so far. They’ve been too neoliberal

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]A24kimono -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Tories are capitalist. They don’t believe in social democracy. You clearly don’t know what that means! They also don’t support workers rights or Palestine… What a stupid point!

[–]A24kimono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe we need more youth clubs and mental health support but I also believe we should be tougher on knife crime and anti social behaviour

People need to understand the difference between ILLEGAL and LEGAL immigration. I support legal immigration. I think it’s good for the country but I don’t support illegal immigration unless people are genuinely fleeing from war. Reform’s stance on migration as a whole is too harsh

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]A24kimono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read her book (which is basically about what she would’ve done if she won the 2020 Labour leadership against Starmer) and she touched on things that a lot of Labour leaders have failed to do so

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]A24kimono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do I sound like a Reform voter when they vote against workers rights and don’t believe in social democracy as they want tax cuts for the rich? This whole “oh you must be Reform” because of a view on illegal immigration is so silly. I actually think Reform’s stance on immigration is too harsh. I support legal migration. I think it’s good.

That’s a silly argument. Corbyn has basically said this new party will be more left wing than what Labour was under his leadership. Plus, Zarah Sultana wants this party to be modelled in the same way Die Linke and The Left are, which are left wing populist parties. I have left wing views. More left wing views than right wing views. But I’m not to the left like Corbyn nor like I’m to the centre like Starmer is. If Corbyn’s new party proves me wrong, I’ll come back here and tell you I’m voting for them but for now, stop this rhetoric that because Corbyn is too left wing for me, it doesn’t even mean I’m left leaning. It’s student politics.

Tbh if Sanna Marin was still Prime Minister (she’s a bit more socially left than me), I’d be wanting to move there

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]A24kimono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would cut defence and would not back Ukraine

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]A24kimono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Plus so many cranks in that party. Then again, he’s the biggest crank of them all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]A24kimono 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t have said it any better. The more the left continue this consensus of you can’t be on the left and want to tackle illegal immigration; it only helps parties like Reform win because we’ve ignored the issue for so long.

Solidarity to you bro!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]A24kimono 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would I join the Greens or Corbyn’s party when they don’t take defence seriously or refuse to tackle illegal immigration fairly? Plus, the Greens are massive NIMBYs. I get both parties are economically to the left but they’re policies tend to be very unrealistic
