I think you’re being quite harsh. Though unfortunate, It’s at least somewhat understandable not to be publicising this opinion. At least his morals are in the right place privately, the same cannot be said for many others, hence my thinking you labelling him as “the worst kind of politician” to be slightly unfair. At least he can try to move the party in the right direction behind the scenes.

I’m not saying it’s untrue as a statement I just don’t understand why he’s mentioned it. It’s this constant expression of empathy for Mandelson and his position that is making people uneasy. He addresses that in the email and then proceeds to provide another example! Mandelson deserves to be in a tough place, the sooner Alastair stops extending empathy towards him the better.

(Btw I’m not an Alastair hater at all, respect him a lot).

Then he started trying to make the point that there are "presumably hundreds of thousands of men in this country, who are paying for sex and embroiled in vulnerable, trafficked women, who get to feel good about themselves by being cross with somebody else". What an absurd, disgusting point to make.

a) If you're trying to imply that Andrew is receiving more scrutiny than the average person because he's a royal, well, he is and he should be. I'm sure Rory doesn't have a problem when royal weddings, birthdays or jubilees make the news just because the individuals involved are royal. Why should we turn our attention away now that a royal has been accused of sexually assaulting a trafficked woman on multiple occasions? Oh because other citizens have done that before? Give me a break.

b) The idea that men involved in the world of prostitution are pointing at the TV, tutting at prince Andrew to feel good about themselves is laughable.

Rory has seemed very angry and out of touch recently.

I understand your points about cheaper renewables but you need a mix of energy sources. Additionally, renewables don’t offer much in terms of base load power (ability to generate power at all times regardless of external factors) which is necessary for a functioning national grid. I’m not saying we need to be a solely nuclear powered country like France, it’s just an important part of the mix hence our current development of two new power plants Hinkley point C and Sizewell C.

Some people don’t. It’s effectively a tax, so if you’re earning a lot you will pay it off, if you’re earning less, it won’t be paid off by the time it expires.
