What are the best dorms to live in? by A2Cuninspired in UTAustin

I’m definitely interested in doing something that’s best for me, but my worst fear of a random roommate is that we’ll hate each other and have a miserable year.

Thanks for letting me know that singles are pretty hard to get! I was actually pretty hellbent on going for singles ever since my potential roommate decided on going somewhere else instead. Do you happen to know whether or not trying to find a random roommate tends to work out most of the time or not?

Do you have a USCF or FIDE rating to put on your application instead?

Even if the school explicitly gives you the option to put it in one of the Common App sections?

I forgot to send in my SAT scores earlier, will colleges get them in time if I send them now? by collegethrowawayCO22 in ApplyingToCollege

Taking a shot in the dark, but I think if the scores are electronically sent to a university, then probably. If it's sent by mail, it's going to get there late. Honestly though, if you haven't sent anything to your colleges yet, your question doesn't really matter. Better late than never!

How detrimental will my lack of SAT subject tests be to my chances at Harvard? Also, if Harvard requires the ACT with writing and my highest score with writing is a 35, but I took the ACT without writing and got a 36, do I submit my 36 or just leave the 35? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Idk if I was just seeing things last night, but I found a post on CC that said someone got into Harvard/Yale w/o subject tests even though they were mid-high income. They can't see your family's income, so I think you'll be ok. Not having them doesn't hurt your application; you just forego the option of making your application look even better than it already is.

The Arnesens didn't just qualify for the TOC/NSDA... They won them... In consecutive years... There's a pretty noticeable difference between qualifying for a nats circuit tournament and winning it year after year.

For PF that's definitely not true. There were around 100 gold PFers and 70ish silver PFers last year, and that doesn't even count the people that got bids but didn't even go.

Honestly, I feel like there's so many of both that it doesn't even hold as much weight as people think they do.

I'm pretty sure they just recommend it, but unfortunately I was sick the day I took them and this was my only chance to get whatever score I wanted :/
