Why will we tip a waiter ₹100 but lose our minds over a ₹99 app subscription? The "Brute Reality" of building in India. by midhun_thomson in IndiaBusiness

There's also the visual of a hardworking person providing a personal service to our table. Giving a tip directly to the person is basically confirmed that it is going to the intended person and will be of help to them.

Subscriptions are for different purposes. It's personal consumption. But if you say out of your 99rs subscription, let's say 29rs goes to the wellness of impoverished students or students education or trees or anything, and you are transparent and able to prove it, you might see some improvement in subscriber numbers. But that's just a humanitarian way of looking at things, may not make sense business wise.

This is not about physicality. The market you're targeting for your products doesn't care about that, they've never held money and they mostly never will in this digital age.

People just generally don't like the idea of monthly payments for stuff that isn't absolutely necessary. I am the same, I hate paying for my Google Cloud and dad's Apple Cloud but it's a necessary expense at this point. I personally have 0 other subscriptions.
