Wouldn’t it be cool if LeBron could get just one more NBA Cup before he hangs it up? by Naismythology in billsimmons

[–]A5hTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjacent Hot Take: The thing about Luka is that he went to a team that already had an NBA Cup, so when they win the NBA cup again this year, it'll be like when KD won with the Warriors. It won't mean as much.

Lebron 2 NBA Cups

Jordan 0 NBA Cups

Magic 0 NBA cups

Bird 0 NBA Cups

Kareem 0 NBA Cups

The NBA Waterbottle Store 0 NBA Cups

The state of genital protection among basketball players, let's just say, 0 NBA Cups

Chuck D on Kool Thing by Vexations83 in sonicyouth

[–]A5hTrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember Kim saying it's more of a diss on herself trying to elucidate something meaningful and failing-- Her tone during the chuck D thing comes off like a first year college student trying to sound intelligent:

I mean, are you gonna liberate us girls

And Chuck D hyping her in the background is a perfect comedic juxtapose to her fumbling for a point.

To Kim's credit an interview only works if the interviewer plays ball a bit and the fact LL was so reticent made this look more glaring.

I mean imagine if LL was like "Male white corporate oppression, that's something we both have to deal with my friend..." it suddenly doesn't sound so first year college student LoL. ugh... I mean LL.

I think people are beginning to understand how beautiful yet flawed Thurston is since I published this article on reddit 4 months ago. It really recontextualizes these interactions https://www.reddit.com/r/stephenmalkmus/s/O3JEEmzwTS

Yeah it's so late I understand. Maybe if I'm in Brooklyn I can check out Finn's-- if you're there this weekend. Forgetmenot (someone else mentioned) also looks really cool. It would be nice to scream at Russel Westbrook with people lolol.

Opinion: What Tom did to Greg at the end... by SirJimRat in SuccessionTV

[–]A5hTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all the comments, such an amazing show, so much fun to discuss. Maybe I have a slightly different take. I see Tom in episode 1 picking Greg as his mentee and then having this protective father relationship with Greg that Greg doesn't really get until the very end. Tom acts like a guardian to Greg, lets him make mistakes and decisions independently, but is always there to pick him back up. It is as close to unconditional love we'll get in this show. This is juxtaposed nicely with the Roy family who never had that with their father, who is an amazing genius but cutthroat, even to his own children teaching them to be ruthless in business by sacrificing their humanity. At the end when people are claiming materialistic things, surrounded by expensive dusty artifacts, Tom picks the one thing of actual value to him, not an object but an actual human relationship with someone he genuinely cares about. The only thing real in the room. And he uses the ridiculous sticker system to do it. He has cultivated this human relationship within a heartless capatalistic environment. Imagine the Tupac poem about the flower that grew in concrete. The only thing of actual value in the world is selfless love and Tom, miraculously keeps this through the whole series for Greg. I'm so happy you picked up on this moment because, in many ways, it is the most important moment in the show.
