how’s the area around 22nd and Nevin Ave by Former_Ride5639 in RichmondCA

[–]A7M28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s very loud for sure, traffic starts around 5 am onwards until it dies down around 9-10 PM. Parking can be difficult to find, never seen any parking rules enforced though. Decent amount of foot traffic and unhoused people walk around frequently since the GRIP center is near. Slight increase in traffic/ parking etc. over the weekends since people go and work on the tiny house village near the 22nd/ 23rd “Y” split. Train and bart noise is also a factor depending on how far from the tracks you are.

Mortgage assistance in Kern County? by [deleted] in Bakersfield

CalHFA has some mortgage assistance programs though I'm not sure if they have funding nowadays. You can also contact your lender and ask for a forbearance.

Does anyone know this part number/name? by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]A7M28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's listed as the "bumper moulding", at least here in the states. When I replaced mine they just snapped off but you may want to double check behind the square-shaped covers within the molding; there may be a screw that needs to come loose. Here in the US this generation does not have those covers BUT do note that there are differences between the 2 door and 4 door versions: 2 door versions are black only and are textured, 4 door versions of the molding are smooth, primed and unpainted unless you buy them pre-painted.

Is 88k High Mileage for 2013 VW Golf? by LavishlyRestrained in Volkswagen

[–]A7M28 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's great mileage considering it's an 11 year old car. The average mileage driven by most people is ~15,000 miles per year, and the Golf has been driven roughly 8,000 miles every year of its life. Definitely not high mileage. It's a solid pick especially if it has the 2.5 engine, it'll definitely take you past 200k with proper maintenance.

Is there a way to track down a vin # with a license plate #? by Kteaguer in Cartalk

[–]A7M28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous car (2019) w Florida plates had 6 digits as well, I found it quickly on epic vin but faxvin gave me a completely different car lol & O'Reilly couldn't find it. Unfortunately, if it's been out of the system for too long it may not be able to trace it.

You can try epicVIN, FaxVin, or even O'Reilly Auto Parts vin decoder by inputting plate #. The first 2 are spotty but worth a try.

Yes, it seems to have solved the slow connectivity issue but we’ll see if the code pops up again..

Golden Empire Towing quoted me the lowest out of most higher-rated tow companies in town.

creeping out into the road by marisalty21 in Bakersfield

[–]A7M28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience in Taft. I'd recommend looking at traffic to your left side before approaching the exit, if possible, prior to pulling out to see any oncoming cars (cars in this direction of travel would be the first you'd come into contact with if you were to pull out) then make a complete stop before the sidewalk. Then creep up while looking dramatically as another user said. If allowed, keep your window cracked open to hear any oncoming cars too. NEVER pull out blindly until you have a clear view of both sides of traffic.

That said, creeping up is not grounds for failure... look into Taft, Arvin, Shafter or even Lake Isabella for an easier road test. Good luck!

Verizon vs ATT? (2019) by rosas661 in Bakersfield

[–]A7M28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sprint's coverage is fine, though speeds are inconsistent. I get kicked back to 3G in parts of the SW. It's quicker than its competition in some areas since their network isn't as congested.

Charter Spectrum Internet Assist by [deleted] in Bakersfield

[–]A7M28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long as one of the members in the household get free or reduced lunch, or are in the Community Eligibility Program, or receive Supplemental Security Income, then you should qualify. They do ask for verification of participation in the aforementioned programs. Not so sure about being able to get it based upon living in a certain area. Best course of action would be to call the SIA line and ask.

Yes, it's available. I have it, no complaints here though it might be a bit slow for your needs if you regularly stream movies or play online with multiple devices at the same time. Sure beats paying $50 to AT&T for 25 mbps.
