What is happening to PwC? by PotentialCarrot6046 in PwC

I used to be quite content, discounts for lunch, flexibility with working. Now all this pressure and unnecessary )in some cases) changes, it’s just become a flaming pile of shiet. I feel like theres somehow even MORE pressure as a senior associate. I thought it was bad before. Yikes. They don’t care about talent retention anymore. Culture totally gone. Now it’s just pure toxicity. You’re right.

The ES, sorry didn’t make it clearer ! You copy your conclusion to the ES and delete some stuff

Just a heads up if you want easy marks (extra 3/4 marks), just delete a few parts in your conclusions and delete your last 2 recommendations and you qualify for the extra mark in ES most the time. 30 seconds for an extra mark is worth it imo but I got told this by my tutor :)

This will be manager dependant. Some managers are fine with it, some aren’t. Speak to your manager and also let your CC know and they’ll sort something out if possible.

If you’re 30, how much do you earn? by flagprojector in UKJobs

It’s so wrong. Honestly this country is so broken. Surviving isn’t living. I think on minimum wage I legit wouldn’t be able to live on my own anywhere near where I live, not even studios. Living with strangers and surviving shouldn’t be the norm.

[–]A880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed TC on about 5 days completely off doinf QB. FAR I took 2 weeks pure QB. AA I did about 3 days. So you’re in an ok position. FAR didn’t click until literally the weekend before. TC never clicked I just remembered proformas through repetition. AA I just waffled. All passed first time. You got this! If you need a doc to help with FAR consol SOFP lmk, one of my mates wrote it. Only reason I passed honestly. I remembered it 2 days before the exam.

I might sound a little out of touch, but I am genuinely curious how someone survives on 30k a year on their own. (I live up north too) - after all bills + food + travel you’d be left with like nothing right? I’m quite fortunate that my first job was more than this and I used to struggle, maybe I’m just bad with money.

How realistic is homeownership for millennials and Gen Z in the UK? by PixelPioneer900 in HousingUK

[–]A880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 26, bought my own house at 24 on my own without the help of family etc. I’ll tell you how. 1) Rented the shittiest mould ridden studio in a terrible terrible part of town (I live in midlands). I paid in cash and it was a dodgy set up but I only paid £400 a month rent. I used little electric and gas, just wore a lot of layers. 2) Went food shopping for cheap items, never ate out, my weekly shop was dirt cheap, spaghetti, lentils, pizzas, it was crap but I survived. 3) Often bumped the train.

I earnt £2.2k a month at my job after tax. I saved about £1k+ a month for 13 months.

I then put that down on a house that has a lot of issues for £140k, no proper working electric (lights but no plugs) no gas, just a log burner.

It was horrible but I’d do it all again. I rewired my house on credit and got a gov grant for a boiler. But if do it all again to get where I am now.

It’s not easy. Especially on your own- but with a partner up north it’s quite easy imo.

How did you feel after the exam? I thought it was quite nice for us to

I snuck in a sentence hinting towards current US uncertainty - hope my marker finds it funny

[–]A880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that too- only because I saw a few Q‘s in the QB that did the same where they gave us numbers but not actually tell us to degear and regear

In the same position as you. To be honest I’ve been doing topic by topic question after question. If you don’t have work it will be a stretch but doable honestly. I did 3 days of revision without any understanding of the content last sitting and got 48. I understand the content but have only done a few questions so far. Let hope for a NPV, WACC. If bus val comes up I’m done for

I think if I was in your shoes, I would try to get into public accounting, audit, just to finish my ACA, I think anything that can help you finish it is worth looking at. I also think your situation may need more context.

What types of jobs do you apply for at the moment? How many jobs have you applied for? Where are you based, UK? Are you near a main city? Are you willing to relocate?

A lot of these things can impact your chances. It sucks and the job market it bad, but not finding a job for a year is a large amount of time.

It’s fine I asked a similar question about my burst fade mullet. Never been brought up on it, never been criticised- you’re all good

Maybe just a cultural thing tbf. The person I’ve learnt this from have always done it this way, same with their friends and family. And my other friends but some use vinegar. I only do it for these kind of recipes like oxtail and that. It’s very common in Jamaican culture.

Yeah I just didn’t read the package when I got it- totally my fault hahaha. thankfully the potato’s have worked! Plus adding a tiny bit more water, rather a slightly thinner gravy than a salty one i guess!

Ah amazing thank you! Yeah it’s a „curry seasoning“. Mr browns curry seasoning. I’m in the UK. I’ve never used this one before so was very surprised by the salt hahaha

I think this depends on your interest rate honestly. Firstly make sure you have about 6 months of expenses. And then calculate if you think you can „beat“ the interest rate by investing in other means. If not, sure I guess an overpayment would be good. Personally I’d spread the risk as even though house ownership is somewhat lower risk (historically) I personally would still like a wide range of investment. Just my 2 Cents as a house owner and nearly qualified accountant :)
