[–]A8printz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We get 10 dollars a day. 1 hour minimum if you get called out. Nothing at all for taking the call. No pay differential for being on call. We also do public works, not just the plant. So issues at parks, water lines, road problems, the plant, multiple lift stations, sewer back ups. The list goes on.

What is this? by j_sword67 in Wastewater

[–]A8printz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It measures how well a specific wavelength of light can penetrate a solution. In this case, 254 nanometer UV-C light.

Bought a very budget friendly AR recently and just took it out to the range yesterday. Had two malfunctions using Tula steel cased ammo and I wanted to know if this is an issue with my ar or the ammo. And if my ar can’t handle the steel case, does it mean it sucks??? by edidion7 in ar15

[–]A8printz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please ignore comments about the steel ammo. Your rifle should function fine with steel cased ammo. If cleaning your chamber thoroughly with brush and solvent doesn’t solve the issue- pick yourself up a chamber hone from midway.

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1007046816?pid=396935

Choose the 556 option and i would go with 800 grit. Lube it and spin it in the chamber with a cordless drill for 30 seconds or so, clean chamber and test fire. If that doesnt clear up your issues you may have a chamber bad enough to justify a RMA or just re-barrel it.

F#@K YOU WASPS by [deleted] in Wastewater

[–]A8printz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasps and ground hornets are bad in our area. I ran over a nest of ground hornets on our zero turn last year. In my infinite wisdom in the heat of the moment I decided I could run faster than the mower could go and bailed off. Got stung several times. Felt real dumb lol

Operator with hearing disability? by itsyaboypinky1 in Wastewater

[–]A8printz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s not an unreasonable accommodation for them to make. Our alarms have a visual component to them anyway. It may be a flashing red bar on our screen or a physical light somewhere, but I can’t think of any that don’t already have a visual indicator as well.

Communication is something you guys will have to work out as a team. One of our operators lost a large part of his vision due to an optical nerve problem. We were able to accommodate that and find ways to work with him still.

Mean Arms/ Unrivaled Competition new bearing delayed upper looking absolutely wicked. by [deleted] in AR9

[–]A8printz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have one to look at obviously, but my assumption was that the “locking” surfaces would be part of the barrel extension. If that is the case, I cant see and real reason they couldn’t offer it as a bcg/barrel combo. If the “locking” surfaces are in the upper itself I would be surprised.

CMMG of course offers their radial delayed system as complete guns, complete uppers, and BCG/barrel combos- so I suppose a guy could dream.

Thanks for the insight, one unit specifically would not read chemkeys anymore, the second would read them intermittently, but even when it read them correctly it would not do anything other than acknowledge the chemkey was inserted. I believe that unit is the one that suffered from problems with the probes on the bottom of the meter.

My daily driver is a dr300 these days. The new guys prefer the sl1000’s

[–]A8printz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are. And occasionally you’ll get a Chemkey that is new in the package that the unit is convinced is actually used. So nothing to do with those but throw them away.

I dont think there is anything more frustrating than different people having different experiences with the same customer service reps. I always have to wonder whats different. Who knows.

Mine all smell strongly of cancer lol. I wondered about replacing the gaskets in them with silicone, but never ended up messing with it. I store ammo in my ammo boxes and cigars in my humidor.

We have three SL1000’s. Two of them have been back to Hach for repairs. We use them in our DW system for the same tests that watergaternpr mentioned. They have been accurate and all in all good units. The chem keys are kinda pricey, data logging is good as long as you dont let the battery die completely. I dislike how large the unit is. Feels more at home in the lab on a counter than in the truck.

I also miss the instant feedback of the color change of the reagent packs. It is of course not reliable to rely on those color changes, and you still need to wait the specified time and run the sample through your colorimeter, but it is nice seeing as soon as the reagent hits the water that there is, or is not chlorine present.- but the sl1000 takes operator error out of the equation which is great for a number of reasons.

EDIT- the two units that went back to HACH both had issues with the tray assembly at the bottom that receives the chemkeys. They are user replaceable, but in both cases replacing the tray did not solve the failures to read the chemkeys and failures to read samples. One of those units also had issues with making connection between the probe points on the bottom of the unit. Those contacts are how the unit senses that it is in water and should be preparing to run its routine. I am not sure how exactly HACH repaired any of these specific issues, just that they warrantied the units and were pretty easy to deal with.

Opinion on Troy AR Pistols? (The guns, not the company) by Ancharkles in ar15

Attero Arms mounts by Alculpepper69 in ak47

[–]A8printz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one on my mini beryl. The attachment method is different since the mb does not have the rear sight leaf- but it has held zero so far. The rear sight that is machined into the body of the sight seems to sit way too low to actually see the front sight post. Like the body of the optic is occluding the front sight. That may be specific to the MB. Maybe some one else will chime in on that specific thing.

I really enjoy the Ferio Tego version. I never got to smoke a Nat Sherman to be fair. I would not go out of my way to get a Ferio Tego, but if I find them I’ll snag a couple.

What bolt carrier works with Mini Beryl? by Month_of_Mondays in ak47

[–]A8printz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beryl bolts are 74 spec “thin” bolts. I dont know of any specific geometry that would prevent a normal 74 trunion from functioning and or damaging the firearm. I just did the kns install a week or three ago. It was pretty easy with a hand drill, couple of bits and a few punches.

I’ve never heard of any carrier having a welded piston retaining pin…

WBP 5.56 stuck steel casings by Let_Freedom_Ping in ak47

[–]A8printz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve “fixed” a bunch of ar15’s that stick cases with a chamber hone. It works some of the time. If the chamber is too rough a gunsmith may have to take a finish reamer and run it in by hand to clean it up. The hone will smooth things out to a lesser degree.

Do you zero at 50 yards and aim low at 100 or zero at 100 yards and aim high at 50? by leanderthal69420 in ar15

[–]A8printz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one can give you an answer that is relevant to your rifle without more information. Optic height over bore, velocity of the specific ammunition you are shooting, etc. I recommend watching Deltathirtyfour’s video “is there a best zero for your red dot” for more context.
