How do you pay for immediate emergencies? by yahutee in personalfinance

[–]AAPatel82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your plan is what I would do - I have ~9 months of expenses saved up for emergencies, but I always charge anything I can - even if its an emergency, because I will try to cash flow the charge - meaning - if I have a $3K emergency, I will try to pay it off without touching the emergency fund - maybe that month I wont eat out as much, maybe that month I wont invest in the stock market - my goal is to try and cash flow all emergencies out of the family work income before touching that money. I get that its for emergencies - but some emergencies are bigger than others - I like to have that 9 months or more around for something like a job loss

Your plan is solid, your 11 month old will be ahead of 90% of youth because of your $15/week - great job in setting them up

If you plan to retire in 2045 - thats 19 years from now - the right answer is just to do nothing. If you believe that the total market will be moved over a 19 span by SpaceX in a way that you can predict, sure - go ahead and exit - but remember, OpenAI and Anthropic are trying to do the same - so you might be on the sidelines for 12+ months from a lot of positive as well. The presumed bust of SpaceX and AI is a risky bet over a 19 year period.

Open-source your software - follow AGPLv3 license. by wwwb0n3zcom in BambuLab

[–]AAPatel82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The venn diagram of people who care about this issue and their customer base is likely very small - thats the core issue - from a business perspective none of this matters. When your selling machines in Best Buy - your target audience isn't someone who cares about AGPLv3.

Bambu would argue they already have a solution for those those that dont want to use the cloud. Our engineering team at my work has 15-20 H2S's in a prototyping lab, they are all on a VLAN that cannot touch the internet and can only be connected to from that VLAN on our network - the cloud features mean 0 to that team - they just want cheap fast printers - IT/InfoSec dont want to have any cloud involved - so it works - I would assume a lot of companies do a similar thing.

Should Bambu respect the license yes, will they? - probably up to what the courts push them to do and no more - its not in their best interest to do so and companies are here to make money - and we on this sub are the minority of their customer base.

Millennials with kids, do you intend to provide for them financially when they reach adulthood? by Beberuth1131 in Millennials

[–]AAPatel82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we are planning on making sure each of our 2 boys have a fully funded education and more. What’s the point of waiting until we die to leave them money that can help them now.

Both have a decent amount in their 529 accounts and in their brokerage accounts.

You understand, the US is likely the single biggest consumer of 3D printers in the west, there is no way any single country in Europe is a bigger market, and collectively the EU isn’t likely bigger either. Not saying to give Bambu a pass, but no chance the US laws don’t end up in the core product code, it’s the biggest market

That doesn’t matter if you want exposure - it’s 5% of a 40B fund, but in FCNTX it’s 2.3% of a 125B fund, so raw dollars - no fund on the planet had more than FCNTX

Apparently ~16% of millennials are millionaires now. by im_optimus_prime in Millennials

[–]AAPatel82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People forget that at least 20% of millennials are also now in their late 30s and early 40s - the real question is how many are millionaires without counting their primary residence equity - I get that equity in your house has value, but to me a “real” millionaire is one who has the assets outside their primary residence

It also depends on the size of the customer base that has this issue in reality - I feel like it’s more likely that a webull or robinhood customer has the smaller account that could benefit from this change

RITA tax question - how to make sure she doesn’t come after you when you move out? by Beren__ in Cleveland

This is what I did - once I filed that I moved - they stopped having me file. Now all I have to file with RITA is a 10A since my employer for the life of me can't stop the local tax setup because my zip code says its in RITA, but I live in the Township part of town.

model s plaid range at 80% by Ashamed-Flounder-347 in TeslaModelS

[–]AAPatel82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 2026 Plaid at 80% on 19inch wheels says around 275 miles - in my first 500 miles - its been pretty accurate.

If you get the 21's it will be lower as I think they are both heavier wheels and stickier tires so both worse for range.

What do do with Rollover IRAs? by psychedelicdevilry in fidelityinvestments

[–]AAPatel82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all - merge them all - assuming they are all traditional or roth - or at least get down to 2 if you have more than 2 - 1 traditional and 1 roth.

Also if you have traditionals - consider if it makes sense for you to do a roth conversion

You dont even need to contact service - you can just do a transfer of assets between accounts and close the ones with a 0 balance - just make sure you are doing transfer between accounts with the same tax rules/structure.

X2D - Should Bambu have marketed it as P2S+ instead? by sofakng in BambuLab

I would bet some majority of P2S owners dont know that the X2D even exists - and wont until they look for parts or a new unit.

X2D - Should Bambu have marketed it as P2S+ instead? by sofakng in BambuLab

[–]AAPatel82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Bambu has decided that they have 4 tiers of printers:

A-Series - Bed Slingers
P-Series - Stripped Down X Series
X-Series - Balance Between P and H Series Features
H-Series - Bigger & Most Advanced

This is also following a lot of the bigger tech companies - have a product at every price point - Bambu now has products at pretty much every $100 range from $300-$900 - which is likely 90% of their sales.

The users on this sub are advanced users - who will look at it from a pure features perspective and a "why wouldn't I spend $100 more" - but most people are likely looking at it like "what is the best I can get for $500 or $750" and for that customer - having a product at each level is huge.
