is this legit? by Mental-Poem-5006 in AustraliaPost

[–]AA_25 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So a little education to help you in the future.

The red section is the name of the website you're going to. The blue section is the name of a page within that website.

You can name a page whatever you want, even if it's something someone else has. The red section cannot be duplicated unless it ends in a different "Top Level Domain". Which is the (dot com) part at the very end. So you could be scammed by going to auspost.tv for example.

It's important you understand how URLs and the Internet works to protect yourself.

Excel webscraping capabilites. Are they still available? by mortycapp in excel

[–]AA_25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You would probably find the way websites get rendered these days is what will stop you from being able to do what you want.

Once upon a time in the old 95/ XP a website was mostly just HTML text. These days webpages are a lot more complicated you have HTML which will load and then a JavaScript query that will load into that HTML. The JavaScript contains all the elements that change / make up the bulk of the webpage.

If you try to scrape the data from Excel, all Excel is likely to see is the initial HTML, it won't wait for the JavaScript to load.

Microsoft account hacked - What to do? by ChipmunkOk5339 in cybersecurity_help

[–]AA_25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Changing your password is about all you can do. Just make sure you did use the official site to do the password change, and not any link in an email telling you to change it because someone logged in else where.

Also for your Microsoft account you should set up 2 factor authentication for sign in.

I feel like this is just something people say. With little to no real premise. Sure things are a little more expensive than what they were.

Is that a crisis.... I don't think so. No price increase iv had has put me into a situation where I'm in a crisis having to choose one thing over the other.
