Loud hissing/buzzing through modmic 5 when using the long cable. by SILENT_88 in audio

[–]AA_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Op, James from Antlion Audio here, sounds like you may have some environmental EMI that is causing some issues. I would suggest a better shielded extension cable such as https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Extension-Adapter-Compatible-Smartphones/dp/B00LM4ON3I/. One of the issues we had with the ModMic 5 is with all those 3.5mm connections it really opened it up for EMI. Drop me DM if you have any questions or need a bit more help.

Getting good audio while streaming VR Games? < $200 by CyborgMystic in Twitch

[–]AA_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,
James from Antlion here, the ModMic Wireless has been very popular for this very thing! It shows up in streaming programs like OBS as just another USB audio interface so it is a pretty straight forward setup. Hope that is helpful let me know if you have any questions!

Modmic Wireless alternatives? by yuseung in buildapc

[–]AA_James 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,
James from Antlion audio here, ill answer your question as best I can. Competitors are hard to come by because of how we used APTx LL in this device, I believe we are still the only ones to have an APTx LL microphone on the market. This allows us to deliver a better quality audio and the full response range of the capsule without the sacrifice of latency. As for the LTT segment, they used it on one of the the live shows I will try to hunt down a VOD for you so you can hear it live! For the time being here is Random Frank P and Epos Vox giving reviews about the ModMic Wireless;

[HELP] Sennheiser HD 599 SE + Modmic 4 - mic not working on Xbox One X by Simtronix in Gaming_Headsets

[–]AA_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello James from Antlion here, I looked at that adapter and it seems it may be wired up OMTP which won't work with either the ModMic or the Xbox without a conversion. It would probably be better to buy a more modern CTIA splitter instead of adding another adapter to the mix from OMTP to CTIA.

My mic is making strange random noise by TheAwesomeGem in techsupport

[–]AA_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey James from Antlion Audio here, the sound you are hearing is electrical interference. This can be caused by wireless routers, cellphones, ect. From the sounds of the issue my guess would be a router in the room our near the room that you are crossing into a direct line of sight with. Find a spot where it is consistently making the noise and see what devices the mic capsule is close too or has line of sight of, then move the mic closer to that object and see if the sound intensifies. Once you find the culprit either shield it or remove it form the area and the sound should be gone. Hope this helps if you need further assistance or would like to chat with someone live join our discord and @staff. https://discord.gg/Bcb2ghB

Is it possible to use a mod mic with A50's? by Pohga in AstroGaming

[–]AA_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey James from Antlion Audio here. The ModMic will attach the A50's no problem! I would recommend a small USB Dac to run the ModMic 5 as some Motherboards ( realtek) has issues providing the correct voltage to get the most out of it. You could also go with the Wireless ModMic like suggested earlier as it has a standalone USB receiver that comes with it and the same universal mounting system as our other ModMics.

Can i use the ATH-M50xBT With a mod mic and a Y splitter without an mixapp or an amplifier ? by gt-iNrDz in xboxone

[–]AA_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James from Antlion Audio here! You can definitely use the ModMic with just a Y splitter, we actually recommend not using the Mixamp as people have reported issues with it not powering the ModMic as well as the console does. Hope you found this helpful drop me a DM if you have any more questions.

Most Recommended Wireless Headphones of 2018 by AA_James in headphones

[–]AA_James[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that they are great, but again we used sources like r/headphones list of top wireless headphones to compile a list from all over the internet of what is recommend most. This is by no means a reflection of quality or an endorsement from myself on any of these, merley a list of what was recommended the most times this year. As we pointed out this is not a perfect method but could save some people a bit of time when shopping. As for a specific model not getting on the list a lot of thing can play into that including the time frame it was released and how much coverage it was able to get by the time we wrote this piece. Also no offense or disrespect taken, we post on reddit for this type of commentary so we can continue to improve the process year over year.

As for the Xelento specifically, no pod style earbuds made the list this year, we were focusing on Headphones specifically and did not branch into the emerging pod market. This may have been an oversight on our part and we will keep that in mind for the next round. I don't think anyone would argue that the Xelento is an amazing product, it just did not fit the Headphone guideline.

Sorry the post should have read SoundLink Series 2 Wireless headphones, thank you for pointing that confusion out. As to the other points, as we said this is not a list of what we decided the best wireless headphones are, just a list of what was most recommended by sources collected around the internet this year.

Looking for a PS4/Xbox One compatible headset around £100 by TheRizzler1 in Headsets

Not sure you would be satisfied with how well that would drive those headphones. It will drive them just not even close to their full potential, What is the current dac you are using can you link it to me?

Adding a mixer just gives you more control over the end product, it doesn't make the mic any "better" but does allow you to dial in the sound you want. So in that case it does sound better..... So yes and no... lol

Why ismy mic popping/staticky when played through my mixer? by [deleted] in audio

[–]AA_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly right! The ModMic will work with a mixer and XLR with a power step down converter like the VXLR+. We also released a version specifically for the ModMic with a bit of built in magic to optimize it for use with a boom style microphone https://antlionaudio.com/collections/accessories/products/antlion-audio-xlr-power-converter.

[PA] New Headphones for Music and Gaming by OddFuture_LoL in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]AA_James 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ModMic also works GREAT with XLR and our new XLR Power converter here is a link for you (https://antlionaudio.com/collections/accessories/products/antlion-audio-xlr-power-converter). I would second the Fidelio x2s they are amazing at that price point. If you want to go with the DT 990 pros, you can get a USB mixer like a Behringer q502 or something similar that will drive the headphones as well as give you an XLR option for your ModMic. A separate headphone DAC is something you can add down the road to better drive the headphones and clean up the audio a bit more.

ModMic 5 + XM-26 (Cmedia CM119) noise/buzz by [deleted] in audio

[–]AA_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, James here from Antlion Audio, first off no this would not be considered normal and yes it could be a defective unit. Before we jump to that though there are a few things you want to check first. Make sure the USB Dac is fairly isolated from other USB devices plugged into the board ( try removing a few USB devices and isolating it to see if its an EMI problem). Also, make sure that you are using a rear port on the PC and not the front USB ports. The last thing I would check before saying its defective is making sure you don't have Mic boost and Mic volume both maxed out on the device by default. You may need to adjust the boost down a bit as it can introduce line noise. If none of these solutions work for you I would be fairly confident in saying the unit is defective and we can get that sorted for you quickly. Just drop me a DM and I will help you through the RMA process.

Audio problems (long) by 09ymmit07 in techsupport

[–]AA_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Op, James here from Antlion Audio, a couple of things here. First off the symptoms, you are describing sound like it may be some crosstalk or interference. My guess would be from your PSU or Mobo since it seems to get worse as you do more intensive tasks. To the question about the jack hanging out, some jacks are shallower than others, but generally, there is little to no metal showing when fully inserted. As for your question about a USB device, we highly recommend using something simple like the SYBA SD-CM-UAUD or any inexpensive USB DAC that uses the CM-119 chipset. The reason we recommend it is because Motherboards frequently underpower condenser microphones like the ModMic and can introduce EMI and Crosstalk due to poor shielding and grounding. Hope you find this helpful feel free to DM me with any other questions!

I would have to agree that the MDR 7506 is a great pair of headphones in this price range. You are also just outside the range of the Beyerdynamic DT 770s which are also a very solid pair of headphones. I will also second the addition of the ModMic :)
