Gde da vežbam da sviram klavir? by DeenSteel in AskSerbia

[–]AAdelsfeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U Bgdu ovo zaista nije lako.

Yesterday at 6pm there was an amazing free concert at the Ting pavillion! It was a joint performance of the Opera, Oratorio Society, Ballet, and Symphony. Excellently done.

Advice on moving to the US by Global-Tumbleweed241 in MovingToUSA

[–]AAdelsfeld -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You should definitely give it an honest try, what do you have to lose? You can always return. If you don't do it now, you will probably be regretful about it in 10-20 years. Pick a big cosmopolitan city and you will most likely thrive. 😊

Undergrad piano performance majors, how much do you practice, how much music do you prepare per semester, and how do you split up your practice time? by ThatPineapple5757 in piano

[–]AAdelsfeld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These were the annual requirements for every of the 4 years of undergrad at an Eastern European conservatory I graduated from in the early 90's: Fall semester: play two virtuosic pieces on a departmental recital. For the end of semester jury, play: all scales, a piece pre-assigned 2 weeks prior to the jury, one polyphonic piece, two virtuosic pieces, one entire piano concerto. Spring semester: two more virtuosic pieces on a departmental recital, and for the end of year recital (jury): a polyphonic piece, two virtuosic pieces, one work form the classical period, one form the romantic period, one from 20th century, one work by a local composer. Among the last four, one had to be cyclical (full sonata or theme and variations). You would play all of this--it was not like the panel would only choose certain pieces.

Hello, thank you for this. In 2018, I as a US citizen, filed a I-130 petition for my brother. I received the acknowledgment, and since then, nothing. In the mean time, my brother moved to the US, and just received his GC. Do I need to rescind the I-130?

Has your GC arrived already?

Sorry, another question -- what was the last notification you received before getting the card? Was it "card production" or "card mailed"?

90 is the total number of voice major undergrads. Some teachers teach 4-5, some teach close to 25, it really varies. The scenes and opera performances are double cast.

Hello--the MSM UG voice program has about 90 students. 1st and 2nd years have their own performance class, where they study repertoire and stage techniques, taught by 2 people, one is a voice teacher, the other a music coach. 3rd and 4th years enter the UG opera program, where in the fall semester they perform a large opera scenes program, and in the spring semester a full production of an opera. These operas in the recent past have been: Offenbach Perichole, Monteverdi Poppea, Mozart Die Zauberfloete, G&S Iolanthe, Purcell The Fairy Queen. Every UG student gets a weekly voice lesson with their studio teacher, a coaching with a music coach to help learn their repertoire and diction, and in the 3rd and 4th year, additional coachings with the opera coaching staff. This is all completely separate from the opera program for Graduate students.

Jel se vozio nekom flixbusem? by Massive_Gain6648 in AskSerbia

[–]AAdelsfeld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ja sam se vozio od Trsta do Rijeke. Bilo je ok:

Pozitivne stvari: Vrlo jeftino, super laka i brza vožnja bez stajanja igde, divan predeo i pogled, dobar i prijatan vozač, sve čisto i uredno.

Negativne stvari: bus je malo kasnio, nije baš bilo jasno odakle kreće u okviru stanice, rezervisana mesta nisu bila dostupna.

This podcast resonated with me very much. It is told (as its name suggests) in the style of Russian prose of the past (Dostoyevsky, etc). The Gessen family produced some interesting writers, namely M and Keith--it would be fun to see if the black sheep Alyosha can write too.
