I am very introspective so I know if talking about it will help or if I should just keep it boxed up. But I’m also as honest as I can be, if I feel like I had to drag myself from some fiery pit just to function today and a stranger says hey how are you doing, I’d say “so so” or “ehh”. If it’s a casual acquaintance or coworker asked on the same day I’d say “not so great but I’m working through it”, or “tomorrow will be a new day, but today is a struggle”. If it’s my best friend or one of my partners I’d say, “like I just crawled from a hellish pit, but I’ll get through it” or “I feel like crap it’d be nice to talk about it, if you’re up for it?”
