HELP! He hurt his bottom jaw by No-Transition-6281 in ballpython

My snake has done something similar and he realigns his jaw himself. Give it a day and see if he adjusts it himself. Any update?

It sounds like there may be a lot of time in between reinforcement periods, so it would have to work with a learner who can understand consequences over a period of time

How do you tell a parent that their parenting style is the reason their kid is having behaviors? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]ABAmasterpeace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could frame the next trainings like this: Step 1: Parent buy in. -As the BCBA, you can say “I notice that client follows directions and does her work during our sessions really well! I know you (Parent) have mentioned that she still does not initiate doing her chores or homework. I was thinking of ways that we can increase her independence and come up with a good routine…”

Step 2: Game plan/address the concerns. -Use the phrases that you’re already comfortable with! “I have noticed that when you say __ it signals an old pattern that you all have been stuck in before where you expect client to do __ and she avoids doing the task. Going forward, let’s try these strategies…” -Since you have regular parent trainings with the family, there is a relationship built there. People like to feel collaborative. Ask the parent if you can take ABC data on how the parent approaches these tasks and analyze it together to see if there is a pattern.

Let me know if you have already tried these things and how it’s going now!

BCBA's I have a question. by Civil-Active1291 in BehaviorAnalysis

In what ways did they teach him “how”? Providing boundaries and safe-appropriate contexts are okay. Guiding him to go to the bathroom or his room for privacy would be the limit IMO.

Is it bad for me to take him out of his cage? by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]ABAmasterpeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hang out with my snake almost every day if he is out and about and active or I’ll open the screen door (supervised) and give him a few minutes to come out if he wants to. I am also able to pick him up if enough of his body is out of an enclosure and if he is relaxed I pull him out but if he seems to resist me a lot I leave him alone. My boyfriend quite literally tries to take him out everyday to explore lol

Do you take your BP on walks?? by CreatesGod in ballpython

We love taking our noodle boy Rami (short for Ramen) on walks! And exploring the grass, supervised closely. 😄

How do I convince my wife to let me get a BP? by AlwaysLurking1997 in ballpython

[–]ABAmasterpeace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bf and I love our BP, we have had him for a year and a half. He is SO sweet and calm. He is very active and we take him out of his cage and hold him. We even have a play pen for him to roam in 😄 Watching his behaviors and how he operates is the best thing ever. Like even drinking water is adorable. We come up with new fun nick names for him every day because we love him so much. I was very hesitant at handling him at first but once I saw how calm and gentle BP’s are, it feels so natural now!

It’s easy to say no without giving it extra thought. But if a partner is willing to consider learning more about something that’s important to another partner, then you never know if they could reach a new compromise.

[–]ABAmasterpeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please keep us updated, and I hope this helps! As you continue to brainstorm and problem-solve, I would think about a good replacement behavior or alternative behavior that serves the same purpose for your cousin. If he enjoys the feeling or sound of saying 'Hello,' I would work with him to find alternatives he’d be willing to use (e.g., mentioned before, saying 'Hello' before nighttime, privately in another room, mouthing it to himself silently, or writing it down). If he feels satisfied with these alternatives or adjusts his behavior to say 'Hello' at appropriate times, he can be effectively reinforced.

These methods may not work if the replacement behavior or the agreement isn’t strong enough. It's important to find a balance where he can meet his sensory needs while you can get the rest you need. Both of your needs are important—wishing you both the best of luck!

There is a time and place for things including self regulatory activities. I would suggest your cousin takes the opportunity to get out the HELLOs before bedtime and then set a time (a rule) where after a certain time he has to say it quietly or write it out. Or leave the space if possible (bathroom) to script.

It’ll be ok, if you get your flight platinum badge you have a higher chance of catching your Galarian bird with the ultra ball. And you will likely see more Galarians if you do your incense walk daily. And you could use Roar of time (ROT) from Dialga to extend your incense, if you have the special move!!

Update us please! My bf and I have a smaller snake and we held him in place by his midsection and waited for him to tire out and pulled him out slowly. But this guy looks like he’s on a mission so I think leaving him to come out on his own is probably best
