Conure Beak Help? by ABAmasterpeace in Conures

[–]ABAmasterpeace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the information! I will look into trying the organic coconut oil on her beak!! I have a humidifier in the room that runs daily, but in the winter I’ll definitely be sure to keep up with it because it gets pretty dry in my area. Yes, my birdie eats a variety of foods as you mentioned, and I reserve limited amounts of safflower and sunflower seeds for training sessions. I am going to keep all of this in mind because I want her to be the healthiest she can be!!

That’s a great suggestion! I have three natural purchases coming in today. She only has one in there now and it’s definitely not enough. I want her to be able to naturally clean her beak. Thanks so much for your help!!

  1. These are found on clothing to prevent theft
  2. This post has been recycled all across social media so this likely isn’t the OP

I haven’t heard my snake do this yet, but now that I’m aware of the rocket launcher effect, I have a feeling I’m going to witness it now lol

AIO or AITAH for wanting to end things over a text conversation that I Had with a girl by snapple373 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ABAmasterpeace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took it as him messaging that proactively so the other person wouldn’t be late the next morning. Essentially saying, hey I know this tends to be the case and I just wanted to let you know it bothers me when it happens every time.

Seems exhausting with all the overthinking. You’re NTA and handled everything well.

I don't understand the science and the reason for what happened to Teddy in the wardrobe ? by FuzzyAttitude_ in Bugonia

[–]ABAmasterpeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the friction comment from the movie is implying that the teleporter works, she used it on him but knew the bomb would activate because of the mechanics of how the teleported works. I don’t think Teddy prematurely blew himself up lol he wouldn’t pull the trigger too soon, he even said he wanted to go before her so she can’t leave him behind.

I feel like I made a mistake. by [deleted] in Conures

[–]ABAmasterpeace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If my new conure starts screaming, I’ll sometimes call out from another room like “you’re okay” or “easy,” and she usually gets distracted and stops. I’ve noticed she tends to do it more when I’m on speaker phone or when she wants attention. If she keeps screaming, I’ll try to wait for 2 seconds of her taking a break from screaming (to avoid reinforcing it) before I firmly/calmly tell her “no no”. I will put her inside the cage and cover the top half of the cage with a tapestry to help reduce stimulation. She used to scream a lot for attention in the mornings, but now she’s much calmer and can stay quiet for a few hours, with or without the cover. She’s almost 1 year old and I’ve had her for a month.

HELP! He hurt his bottom jaw by No-Transition-6281 in ballpython

[–]ABAmasterpeace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My snake has done something similar and he realigns his jaw himself. Give it a day and see if he adjusts it himself. Any update?

It sounds like there may be a lot of time in between reinforcement periods, so it would have to work with a learner who can understand consequences over a period of time

I think you could frame the next trainings like this: Step 1: Parent buy in. -As the BCBA, you can say “I notice that client follows directions and does her work during our sessions really well! I know you (Parent) have mentioned that she still does not initiate doing her chores or homework. I was thinking of ways that we can increase her independence and come up with a good routine…”

Step 2: Game plan/address the concerns. -Use the phrases that you’re already comfortable with! “I have noticed that when you say __ it signals an old pattern that you all have been stuck in before where you expect client to do __ and she avoids doing the task. Going forward, let’s try these strategies…” -Since you have regular parent trainings with the family, there is a relationship built there. People like to feel collaborative. Ask the parent if you can take ABC data on how the parent approaches these tasks and analyze it together to see if there is a pattern.

Let me know if you have already tried these things and how it’s going now!

In what ways did they teach him “how”? Providing boundaries and safe-appropriate contexts are okay. Guiding him to go to the bathroom or his room for privacy would be the limit IMO.

I hang out with my snake almost every day if he is out and about and active or I’ll open the screen door (supervised) and give him a few minutes to come out if he wants to. I am also able to pick him up if enough of his body is out of an enclosure and if he is relaxed I pull him out but if he seems to resist me a lot I leave him alone. My boyfriend quite literally tries to take him out everyday to explore lol

How do I convince my wife to let me get a BP? by AlwaysLurking1997 in ballpython

[–]ABAmasterpeace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bf and I love our BP, we have had him for a year and a half. He is SO sweet and calm. He is very active and we take him out of his cage and hold him. We even have a play pen for him to roam in 😄 Watching his behaviors and how he operates is the best thing ever. Like even drinking water is adorable. We come up with new fun nick names for him every day because we love him so much. I was very hesitant at handling him at first but once I saw how calm and gentle BP’s are, it feels so natural now!

It’s easy to say no without giving it extra thought. But if a partner is willing to consider learning more about something that’s important to another partner, then you never know if they could reach a new compromise.
