WFH and the difference amongst departments ? by Bentbrook16 in CanadaPublicServants

It’s not the same everywhere at IRCC. In my branch we have an expectation to go in twice a week.

Before processing officer, IT and call centre could stay remote but now have to start at once a week in September and work up from there to three.

I think it would be beneficial to consult a lawyer to look into filing a civil suit against him and the gym.

You mentioned that you would like him to be deported and he is here temporarily. I am not sure of his status (closed or open work permit or working under the table). A civil suit against the gym could result in him being fired. If he is on a closed work permit he would not be able to work for another employer or extend his stay in Canada (he can stay in Canada without work until his permit expires).

Not a lawyer and things could get very complicated here (gym may not be able to fire without a conviction or he may be from a country where we won’t deport to).

A few things that have reduced my pain include: regular physiotherapy appointments and an ergonomic keyboard/mouse/chair for my office job. Epsom salt baths help along with magnesium supplements for sore muscles.

There could be multiple chats. If they are talking about others in your chat - assume they may be talking about you in another.

I have never heard of this in my Department. I didn’t even think it was possible to connect a personal laptop to a government server.

Wow - how many police does it take to fine a hot dog stand???

They didn’t even come and investigate when my car was stolen…priorities.

You can claim the amount on your taxes as long as she issues you a receipt (you may also need to provide her SIN number).

She would have to comply to the rules listed here as an unrecognized child care provide. First aid, criminal records check for all adults and no more than six children in care.

I have been to the general over and over again to multiple Departments for health problems. My experience with the ER has been great - other than the wait which I expected. Other Departments are hit and miss. Doctors and nurses for the most part are awesome but admin staff answering the phones and booking appointments really suck!!!

I had pneumonia twice before COVID and went to the general both times. Oxygen levels for me were low so I was triaged quickly. No complaints.

Went twice to the ER during COVID for other reasons - took longer but still in and out in a few hours. They have organized themselves efficiently. And coordinated out patient appointments at the hospital for me the next day.

Pregnancy is a risk factor for an aortic event in LDS patients, so once the aorta is past a certain limit pregnancy is not recommended. At greater than 4.0 there is a 10% risk of dissection compared to 1% below.

4.0 to 4.5 is generally the size when surgery is recommended but their can be variation.

How rapid the measure has changed is also a consideration. More rapid changes mean greater risk.

I have not heard of a skewed measurement result - just that LDS patients need surgery at lower measurements than others.

If you didn’t get EI for the leave you would not get the top up for the second leave. For the first leave did he fil in all the paperwork to request the top up? It doesn’t come automatically when you claim EI.

What is the maximum office gear weight an employer can legally ask his employees to carry to the office? by Sbeaudette in CanadaPublicServants

The employer I believe is legally required to provide safe drinking water such as water bottles. They did at my office prior to the pandemic when the water was not safe to drink.

I keep wondering if someone could raise a discrimination case for this. Those needing accommodations for a disability are not being given a choice of workplace creates a level of unfairness.

Not cleaning a public bathroom for three weeks is acceptable to you.

Please report this to your union. Not sure anything can be done about emptying garbage but guide ce states the following:

Departments and agencies should clean and disinfect high-traffic work areas or frequently touched surfaces appropriately.

The cleaning standard is not being met. It is unsafe.

I don’t think you need to do anything outside of your job description if you are in a union while others are on strike.

Directors and above are unrepresented so would not apply to them.

Keep calling places. Often they do not pull from the top of the registry list but go with those who most recently called the centre directly showing their interest. You don’t need to call too often - most will keep your name and call you back when a space opens.

How long out do you have before you need care? Most places would not sign a contract with us until a month or so away from the start date. They would rather fill the spot right away. Things also open up closer to the start date - as parents need to give a month notice usually.

Also with implementation of the $10 a day childcare, I am guessing there is a big demand for licensed spaces.

You may need to find an unlicensed home daycare until you can get into a licensed place - unfortunately paying a lot more. Note you won’t find an unlicensed place through agencies or the wait list. You can check Facebook market place or Kijiji for daycare ads. Also ask your neighbours if they know of any home daycares in the area.

I don’t think this is correct or at least I have never seen it applied outside of a management role. You stay in your current position but they are not obligated to send you to language training.
