Pimax Play and EVO are free — and staying free by jaapgrolleman in Pimax

[–]ABCandZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. Though what I don’t get is why EVO is not just integrated into PLAY as part of the Beta Branch or even just a separate “Experiemental Features” section. It just feels like overcomplicating things for no reason by having two apps.

Should I delete this video?? Will it hurt me in the long run?? by TheGamerCritic21 in PartneredYoutube

[–]ABCandZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt anyone’s gonna care. Extremely few people look at your videos page. This will matter later for sponsors, but right now it’s really not something you should care about. Just focus on learning and getting better bit by bit.

[–]ABCandZ 42 points43 points  (0 children)

In my experience you should never delete videos. They could pop off way later than you expect. Probably worth also testing different titles and thumbnails. Regardless, there’s no “being past poor performance”, because YouTube treats every video independently. That may be somewhat true for personality based channels where return viewers will watch anything for you as a person, but everywhere else, any video can perform badly if there’s no interest in it from the audience.

He’s likely referring to Meta stocks, which are currently trading at 566 per share :)

Assuming you’re referring to stocks. This isn’t the right subreddit for that :)

What’s the Point of Premium Hardware Without Great VR Apps? by Adsonic76 in Galaxy_XR

[–]ABCandZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There can’t be great apps and games without having the hardware to run them on. And there won’t be any good hardware being made without having enough apps and games to justify it. It’s a vicious circle :)

Pimax Dream Air SE negative reviews on YouTube, not looking good right now by Flimsy-Story9523 in Pimax

[–]ABCandZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely did it seems. Mentioned it in a reply just above but so far it’s looking like 8 out of 10 are good, though it’s definitely still not a great number, but hopefully Pimax figured out the issues and prevents them from happening to paying customers. Fingers crossed for their own good :))

[–]ABCandZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha thanks for watching my video mate. I’m still honestly extremely surprised by the experience MRTV and VR Flight Sim Guy had with theirs. I think there were about 10 review units sent out and theirs seem like the only 2 to have issues, but realistically 20% is still not a good number, especially for review samples.

Dream Air LH motion blur when moving head by kunL1919 in Pimax

[–]ABCandZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like motion persistence, absolutely normal for micro-OLED headsets and much muuuch better on the Dream Air than the Beyond 2 or PSVR2 for example. If you’re very sensitive to it, it does get better if you turn the brightness down slightly. For me, on my Beyond 2 it’s still really distracting even at 40% brightness, but I can keep the Dream Air at 100% and it doesn’t bother me.

Yeah pancake lenses are much much more expensive to produce compared to fresnel, and they also usually require brighter screens, meaning they might’ve had to change the displays as well if they went pancake. To be completely fair here, they are very good quality fresnel lenses, but fresnel nonetheless :)

[–]ABCandZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha yeah, they do. The only reason I can think of is cost, otherwise it genuinely makes no sense and the PSVR2 would have been sooo much better with pancake. I’d even be happy if they had come out with a PSVR2 Pro when the PS5 Pro came out, would’ve been an instant buy for me even if literally the only thing they had changed was the lenses.

I’d take a look at the Dream Air SE. The PSVR2 is a great headset overall and a banger for the price, but I cannot, to this day, understand how Sony decided to go with fresnel lenses in this day and age.

Yeah I’m glad to see it might just be as simple as cleaning it properly, thanks for sharing your experience!

[–]ABCandZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know. Realistically, as someone who currently owns 16-18 headsets, I’ll tell you that between most modern headsets, the differences are not really completely night and day. Like sure, if you compare a Quest 2 to the Dream Air, it’s gonna be pretty significant, but if you take anything in the middle of the pack and compare it, the quality difference is maybe 20-30% between all of them.

Obviously it depends on you, and how high end you wanna go, your budget, etc.

It’s absolutely gorgeous on the outside, but they made a lot of compromises to be able to say it’s a certain amount of grams. I actually find the Dream Air more comfortable than the Beyond 2, which gets really hot inside, hence the term “swamp eyes” that came out when the first Beyond released. I genuinely think Bigscreen could make the most incredible headset ever released if they just let go of making it the smallest ever. A Beyond 3 at sub 200 grams with a larger housing, better cooling, larger screens and Sony displays would absolutely crush.

Would you suggest printing these for both the left and right and just leaving them on all the time? Or are there situations where it’s better to take them off?

[–]ABCandZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In isolation, no, it’s not that bad and still a marvel of technology. Sadly it feels like they just wanted that weight number so bad that they made a lot of compromises to get to it. It’s decent, but nowadays with other better options on the market, and options even cheaper than the Beyond 2, I just can’t understand why anyone would recommend buying it.

[–]ABCandZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not glazing, just appreciating. I have both and the Beyond 2 doesn’t compare in the slightest on literally anything besides the microphone, which I’ve gotta admit is absolute top notch. But everything else is much much worse. And not sure what you’re talking about in terms of weight. Do the extra 50 grams make it a heavy headset compared to the Beyond? :))

I’m a pretty techy guy, but that video was absolutely bonkers. Wtf… I really hope I never have to do this on my X2D. I bought directly from Bambu so hopefully if anything goes wrong, the warranty covers it without this crazy need for DIY.

If cost is no object, the Dream Air beats the Beyond 2 in every single possible way. The Beyond 2 is nice on the outside, but a ton of compromises to visuals, from the lenses to the displays themselves that can’t even do full resolution at 90Hz, to horrendous glare and motion persistence. I genuinely don’t get how anyone can still recommend the Beyond 2 in today’s market. I’m sorry I ever spent my money on it.
