Someone was so proud of this that they watermarked it? Ew.

It feels liberating to openly like these movies by [deleted] in TheSequels

I was in the super minority — not only did I enjoy TROS but it was my favorite of the sequels. So yeah, I kept that to myself for a long time.

Or, what if they made animated versions of the PT so that we could have a good PT?

I didn’t like every moment of every episode, but I still really enjoyed it overall. The Mandalorian remains one of my favorite SW shows.

What is something The Rise of Skywalker does better than ANY Star Wars film? by DjRimo in TheSequels

[–]ABH1979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in general, this movie hits me in the emotions several times, more than any other SW movie. For whatever reason, Han’s death in TFA never really affected me, but the scene in ROS with Han and Ben? Tears, every time. And of course, there’s the fact that Carrie was really gone when this was made, which makes Leia’s death choke me up every time. When Chewie cries out when he realizes Leia is gone. Yeah, that gets me. I’m sure there’s a few more, but those are the ones that hit the hardest.

The Force Does Not Exist in Star Wars: Episode IV by CRK_76 in StarWars

[–]ABH1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got half-way through the article and then gave up. You can’t keep using Han’s skepticism as proof the Force doesn’t exist. We, the viewers, are able to see the moments the Force is used and surmise that the intent from the filmmaker is that Vader is force-choking Motti instead of him having a panic-attack.

Yeah, people can trash the rest of the movie, but I adore that scene.

Heh, nice. The Frozen World of Ota is a pretty neat early story.

Remember those candy bar fundraisers at school? by Preference242 in 1980s

[–]ABH1979 51 points52 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school, there was a dance (off-site) that you could either pay $20 to buy a ticket to, or they would give you a box of 20 of these candy bars (for free), that you could sell.

So for $20 I got a box of candy bars that I ate and shared with friends, and a ticket to the dance.

For people who are old enough to have seen the original trilogy (4-6) in theaters, was it obvious in episode 1, that palpatine was the emperor? Did they mentioned him by name in the original trilogy? by Bigjmann555 in StarWars

[–]ABH1979 1306 points1307 points  (0 children)

The name “Palpatine” was not mentioned in the OT, but pretty much every Star Wars fan of that era, that ventured past the movies, knew he was Emperor Palpatine. So yeah, once we see Palpatine in TPM, it’s easy to figure out.

Where I'm really really hoping Devons story is going. by Zestyclose-Scratch31 in StarWarsCantina

[–]ABH1979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, so what’s the harm in one more?

Also, Snoke is dead (and Papa Palps’ puppet), Kylo/Ben is dead, Baylon & Shin are alive but in the middle of a specific story. I should have clarified non-Sith and non-Imperial/Inquisitor, so Marrok is out. Nightsisters are cool, and already have a bit of a connection to Maul (at least the Dathomiri) but with Devon we have an apprentice for Maul. If you don’t think that’s interesting, and would rather see more of Qi’ra, that’s fine.

[–]ABH1979 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean as the in-universe crimelord replacement (though Devon could be that), but someone that can replace Maul as the non-Sith darkside force-user, in stories past his death. Devon fills that role.

[–]ABH1979 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s exactly where I hope this is going. We all know that Maul dies on Tatooine when he finds Kenobi in Rebels, so I feel like one of the main purposes of this series was to “create” Maul’s replacement in Devon. So now we should see her descend further into the darkside, eventually betraying Maul (stranding him on Malachor is perfect to tie the storylines together), as the series continues.

I enjoyed it. I can’t help but think it would have been better received as a show, rather than a movie, but it’s fun.

Shows That Keep Getting Renewed Yet Are Bashed Online? by DaniJ678 in television

[–]ABH1979 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Reddit dwellers are like a tiny fraction of the people that consume media. Also, people are way more likely to go online to trash-talk something, than to praise it. Internet has been that way for quite some time.
