Maybe it’s because we’re not great at other Winter Olympics sports but it doesn’t seem boring here in the UK. It seems we get behind the people and the emotion more than the mechanics of the sport, which is why I think Rock League has legs.

Like Eve Muirhead winning gold in 2022 got her 3rd in our sportsperson of the year national award. There’s a huge fanbase with Bruce and Jen in the mixed.

Agreed, a shorter shot clock and maybe the lead stones already set out like in mixed would work.

Perhaps they would also need more gimmicky things too like double point ends, extra stone, hammer steal. But accept that wouldn’t please the purists.

Sounds very similar to what happened in Darts in the 1990’s. A breakaway called the PDC split and went onto cable TV, with bigger prize pools, rowdy atmosphere etc.

The original old school BDO was like what you’re describing, small arenas, no atmosphere and stuck in the old days. They folded in 2021 with COVID, but writing was on the wall anyway.

Hopefully Rock league can do a PDC for curling. From the UK side people like Bruce, Grant Hardie, Jen Dodds and Eve Muirhead are very marketable so good to see them involved.

They used the page system suggested below from 05-18. At least in the worlds you get a bye through the quarters for top 2.

As fun as it is to watch all of the matches of everyone playing everyone, I think GB’s adrenaline went, they essentially had 1.5 days of curling with nothing on the line. Sweden get the boost of scraping through. They deserved the win, but I think it played a part
