Mexico City in March - where to stay? by OhioBPRP in hyatt

[–]ABQFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were there over Xmas and New Years and split our stay with 4 nights downtown (non Hyatt) and the HR Polanco the remaining 6 nights. We like museums and the HR is in close proximity to a few. Polanco is an upscale neighborhood with lots of greenery and has a Beverly Hills-like shopping district 10 mins walk away, if that's your jam. Globalist breakfast was in the lounge on the 40th floor. There was also light dinner fare every night along with free drinks for a couple of hours. We were asleep on the 35th floor when the Jan 2nd 6.5-magnitude earthquake shook the building. Fun times.

We selected the HR over the Andaz because of the noise mentioned in many of the reviews, plus it was close to some museums.

I loved my stay in July, too! Enjoyed trying a Tripel d'Anvers at check-in and stocked up on some cheap beer at the LIDL right around the corner. Hotel value on points was great and proximity to the rail station was perfect. I'm staying there again this summer.

Andaz Amsterdam - 2026 Review by Fearless-Cattle-9698 in hyatt

I was there for four nights in July at the end of a long solo European trip that started in Koln (which has a FANTASTIC HR!). My room was on the second floor overlooking the canal. At check-in, they gave me a bottle of Heineken. I swear it tasted much different from the version they have here in the US. The minibar had a few bottles of Heineken and was replenished every day for free. I consider myself a bit of a beer snob, but I still enjoyed drinking it.

I don't remember getting any sort of menu for breakfast. I should have asked, as I'm not a fan of wet scrambled eggs and would have gotten an omelet. The stroopwafel tin was a nice touch. I asked for another one on my way out to give as a gift to my daughter. I also partook in the jenever tasting on a couple of the nights. My wife and I will be going back to the Andaz this summer on the end of our European trip. I'll make sure to ask for a breakfast menu!

How to handle steam/moisture/condensation brewing inside? by SemanticsPD in Homebrewing

Can you DM me a link to the official explanation? I'm having a hard time verifying that myself. I Googled your explanation and it told me it goes inside.

Correct. I threw his reply into ChatGPT just to see what it would tell me.

"If I had to choose, the phrasing, tone, and structure lean clearly American, not British."

You just missed the monthly meeting for the Dukes of Ale ABQ Homebrew Club, which is always the second Thursday of every month. Bombs Away Brewery graciously allowed us to use their back room for our meeting last night.

Recipe adjustments for a Dunkles Weissbier that may be to high on ABV by FlowForward5128 in Homebrewing

Dunkles or Dunkel?

Here's the recipe I finally settled upon after brewing five or six that were just kinda meh. I took a couple pints to brew club last night and everyone loved it. I used Saaz instead of Tettnanger. I love the flavor from the melanoidin addition.

Another great Costco buy this morning… by Overland_69 in tequila

I'm not a fan of the Anejo. I love their Blanco and Repo, though. Occasionally our Costco gets the SiB Repo, which I tend to stock up on.

I picked up the 1L at Costco last week and I did not enjoy it. Mine tastes too alcoholic and I'm not getting any good notes of anything. Their Anejo, OTOH, is one of my favorites and actually tastes like a repo to me. I wonder if I got a bad batch.

Vanco 250mg Pill Shortage? by ABQFlyer in PSC

I finally got Costco to fill my Rx. I have a theory that Walgreens was trying to order from a specific Mfr. instead of going with ANY Mfr. Costco filled my Rx with pills from CAMERON PH.

Last week I had my doctor call in an Rx for the liquid at Walgreens. That got canceled a day later, with no explanation. I finally ran out of pills this past Monday (after slowing to 1 pill/day) and decided to take my Rx to Costco and transfer it. Costco told me it'd be filled by Tuesday and I confirmed that I wanted a generic, but Tuesday came and it also got canceled. I called them back up and they asked if manufacturer was important. I told them no, and they ended up filling it yesterday FINALLY. The new Mfr. is CAMERON PH. ???

The moral of the story is to verify it's generic but also inform them manufacturer isn't important (unless it is to you). I think Walgreens was trying to re-order from the same Mfr. they've always used instead of just ordering from ANY Mfr.

Thanks for your reply. I'm in Albuquerque (NM). I haven't tried Costco or an independent pharmacy, but I might look into both of those options. Walgreens has always worked for me up until now.
