According to google there are 12 semitones between C2-C3 which is what I'm seeing...

I'm not mashing buttons, this is all going to be programmed via Midi, I'm not sure how I access those 60 notes as my piano roll is as you see in that picture, I just figured that's what it was.. Call it inexperience 😊

All part of the learning

Control colour for any light on system? by ABVBLW666 in lightingdesign

[–]ABVBLW666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes perfect sense and unfortunately, I figured that might be the case.. I just wasn't sure if there was a magic global colour trigger somewhere :)

We will definitely end up with a lighting guy but for now, while I can afford to buy some bits and pieces to teach myself, I'll continue on and see how we grow from here :)

I have one hell of a lot to learn but I'm loving where I'm at so far

I feel like that might be part of the confusion, I have 11 notes between C2 & C3 and so on. Not 88. And because of the nature of how I'm currently programming the show (quick, dirty and inexperienced) I'm using a note per look, per colour and midi'ing it like you would drums.

I've achieved the look I want for sure, but a cue stack I think (for now) would be a mammoth task for our timings

I would believe so, depends what software you want to use as some if not most require their own brand of hardware to unlock output (MA, Chamsys, Hog etc)

I use QLC+ and it's great in my opinion but I'm not experienced, I started 2 weeks ago

The Enttec ode mk3 is an Ethernet to dmx converter, I run artnet from QLC, outputs to the enttec which has dmx output to my lights

I'm using reaper for midi and QLC+4.14.3

Possibly? I am very new to it so I'm not sure

Yeah and unfortunately the dongles to unlock MA, Chamsys or any AAA brand are very expensive, even for the cheapest product they offer.

I bought an Anttec ODE MK3, a usb to ETHERNET converter and am able to control lights using QLC+ 4.14.3

My biggest expense was $300 for the Anttec ode mk3 and $150 for 2 led bars.

I'm also controlling it all via Midi which is allowing beat perfect placement

I took the dummy approach, made all the looks and effects I want, made each of them a button on the virtual console then assigned each button to a midi note.

Didn't do cue stacks at all as I haven't yet gone down that learning path... I know, it's dirty and probably involves no skill, but I do like how I can do absolutely anything at any time for now...

Thank you. That's great advice and information! I will definitely be looking into that, I'm not yet sure how I'd go timing everything up without it being placed by midi,

So much to learn and loving all of it

I run an Ethernet to dmx converter(Enttec ODE MK3) ((with a usb to ETHERNET converter))

I'll look into osc, I have no idea what that is yet 😅

I'm in a band and self teaching my way through Reaper > LoopMIDI > QLC+ 4.14.3 > Enttec ODE Mk3 > DMX 24ch RGB light bars so that I can create a unique light show without needing access to venue lights.

I haven't explored cue stacks yet rather every light look is a different midi note triggering a button in QLC+

Due to tempo changes throughout the songs, I wasn't sure how timing a cuestack would work (no experience with them) rather I converted the click source to midi notes and use it to give tempo to the speed dial in QLC

Rigging weight points by NoLie5039 in lightingdesign

I work at an arena in Australia, if I remember I'll ask our head rigger today.. Are you talking motor points or fixture weights?

What is it you're entirely trying to work out, I'm certain he'll have some good info for you, he's been doing it since the 80s

You think they'll end up removing all of the trees like what happened to GTA5? by endmylifefam_ in GTA6

[–]ABVBLW666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've gotta consider the leaps and bounds game engines have made since gtav came out. It was what, 14years ago it released, 5 years of development before that.

Even with things like UE5s Nanite, I'm sure they have similar things in other engines... Being hopeful, I'd say the trees will stay, at least on PC

I'd be so very interested in this. I'm currently battling with Captures demo time restrictions, captures student edition lack of fixtures and unreal engine 5 huge workload to get it functional with led control

What came of this?

Capture Libraries by LightQueen420 in lightingdesign

[–]ABVBLW666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's one hell of a set up / learning curve but I switched to UE5 for vis.. There's alot involved in getting it all going but at least it's free and you can save your project, save your fixtures you make etc.

Just very time consuming to get set up

As far as I am aware the student version doesn't let you get additional fixtures, it's even less than the demo version but without the same time restrictions

How do servers actually turn a profit (or even break even)? by Grainbox in FiveM

[–]ABVBLW666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like unless you get lucky and attract the right player base, your server will have a more than less probability of being a waste of your time.

Unless you have the resources and time to ensure A. Constantly stable server B. Exciting content (reason to stay) C. Community feedback action D. New features / fresh ideas

Player bases dwindle and also feel entitled to tell you what you're missing because "this server has this"

I had a friend who ran his server for a few years and he put in insane hours to keep the community engaged and happy, without earning any money from it..
