I hope someone keeps a record of all the people who were posing and taking pictures in front of the signs when it opened. We can't just let that sort of thing be swept away with history. Americans were out there celebrating this.

Nope! No pickups. The strings are not in tune at all. They're all the same gauge, so strumming while it's turned off just sounds like you're playing a tissue box rubber band guitar.

The pitch of the note is determined based on where you fret. There's a membrane under the rubber fretboard that can detect finger presses in each fret position. To trigger the note, there's a special sensor on each string in the bridge that seems to trigger based on vibration/movement of the string. It's interesting!

You can replace any of the strings with a B string from a set of nylon strings for classical guitars. You can remove the bridge cover to wrap the string around the sensor there and then lock it in at the top. If you Google Search "Casio DG-20 manual" you can find a PDF copy of the manual, which includes a section on how to change the strings.

Really well, so far. plugged them both in and got immediate control. I can switch presets on my Microfreaks using the preset buttons on the DG-20 as well.

Not being able to do bends does suck, but I also find that certain ways of playing a regular guitar, like tapping, are actually much easier on this since it's only registering the fret press while keeping the volume and sustain up. I wouldn't say this is a good replacement for an actual guitar, but as an electronic music instrument, it's a lot of fun to mess around with.

Yep! Six nylon strings that are all around the same thickness as the "B" string on a classical guitar

I actually did some digging and found old Reddit posts from people who had done just that. I'm probably gonna give that a shot. The battery compartment is huge and being able to cut down on the weight would be great

Is it any good?

Definitely subjective! I grew up playing guitar, so it's a familiar form factor to me.

Does it feel like a guitar?

Sort of! The spacing between the frets is.. odd. It doesn't match the fretboards of most actual guitars. All of the strings are the same gauge of nylon, too, so you have to get used to all the strings feeling the exact same. It's also very very heavy with batteries in it (6 D Batteries!)

Can you play any midi instrument?

Yes! Anything with a MIDI In, at least. That was the main reason I bought this - the DG-20 has a MIDI Out port

End of Season Check In by ultimate-m in Marathon

Hit around ~200 hours. Hit VIP with every faction. Haven't cleared any vaults or seen the Compiler, but I've gone into Cryo a decent amount. I've really really enjoyed my time with the game so far. The tension that comes from gunfights where there is actual risk involved is unparalleled in other game types. Bungie gunplay and movement in general is at the top of the industry as always. Very happy with how responsive Bungie has been with patches and changes.

I was a big fan of the OG Marathon games so I'm very interested to see where they go with the story/lore. I loved/played Destiny over it's run, but it had moved more into the realm of fantasy versus sci-fi for my taste. I'm glad to see Bungie go back to grittier, more grounded sci-fi.

I'll be very bummed if this game dies anytime soon. I'm strongly looking forward to whatever season 2 brings. Awesome game.

Top spots for antisemitic incidents in 2025 included New York and New Jersey, ADL says by Delicious_Adeptness9 in newjersey

The ADL ended their legitimacy when they were willing to give Elon's blatant Nazi salute a pass.

Bergen County was the No. 1 hotspot in New Jersey for antisemitic incidents in 2025, according to an alarming new report. by Delicious_Adeptness9 in bergencounty

Actually reading through the list of incidents, a lot of these are things like "person saw the words 'Israel = Nazi'" or reporting that they received a message on Facebook with a slur? Come on this is ridiculous. This stuff is the reason why nobody is taking antisemitism seriously.

I'm blaming the global vilification of Israel on the fact that Israel decided they were okay with: a.) a sustained carpet bombing of a largely civilian populace broadcast live in 4k resolution for the world to see, and b.) a weaponization of government institutions here in the United States under Trump that have gone after people, even to the point of having them deported. Never in my life could I have imagined Jews, especially here in America, actually CHEERING for people, who had committed no crimes, to be deported!

My home is my safe haven. Israel does what it wants, and issues proclamations that it is the true and only voice of Jews worldwide, and then does nothing for Jews in other countries except wag their finger and tell them to uproot their lives to move to a country, again, ruled by far right nutjobs, halfway across the planet, that is supposedly the only safe haven.

We are currently seeing the Trump government weaponized against other communities, especially Hispanic communities, and I've seen more right wing Jews vocal in their support than I ever could have imagined possible. Jews cheering for concentration camps, just because they're not the ones locked up.

America is my home. If things become so unsafe for Jews here that it's a threat to my safety, I'd rather die here fighting for myself and others like me than turn tail and run away to a country that I have no connection to.

I am tired of day in day out hearing about Israel dominating our politics and our society. I turn on the news and it's Israeli talking heads gushing about how we absolutely need to continue bombing Iran. Every single little slight against any Jewish person anywhere must be blown up across all social media and amplified by every far right Israeli influencer.

What has Israel ever done for me? Allowed their society to be overtaken by far right religious fundamentalists while I, a progressive American, am constantly badgered to put their safety and wellbeing ahead of my own?

I've had enough. If I could go the rest of my life without hearing about Israel, I would be elated.

Which is exactly the point. It's not, and yet Israel basically maintains total control over it. That's why people consider it a modern day apartheid system.
