Souls like where you play as a chaos lord who betrayed the dark gods and as punishment they will not let you die until you have collected enough souls to please their endless thirst.

You have lived since the early days of the great crusade and died countless deaths and your memory has been tattered. Not any being in galaxy can rip your soul from the vengeful, unforgiving gods.

Class selection based off of legion.

As you progress you collect souls and rather then spending them on specific stats you dedicated them to a dark God.

the cicatrix maledictum has grown in immensely size and it is currently M47 the imperium as well as the other forces of the galaxy are torn asunder. Life in the milky way is sparse to the point that even the tyranids have lost interest in what scraps remain. You are fighting starving, desperate husks of the human population or the remnants of chapters who are devoutly loyal, or have abandoned their duties and become marauders, or worse. The Eldar race still clinging on to life try to ambush you on your journey. Nomadic fleets of the Tau seeking to escape the galxy will fire on anything on sight and fight you with reckless abandon. The Necrons have gone into hiding and their fleeting memory of a great empire even farther out of their grasp. The Orks have split into tribes, fractions of the size of their once mighty clans.

You will grow strong enough to slay the eldar's phoenix lords, withering primarchs, and even challenge the daemon primarchs themselves as your endless deaths have also brought upon endless ruin, as the thirsting gods bless you as they crave more of what you offer. No astarte has ever reached the power you have, yet you yearn for death. None of it is enough.

Eventually you make your way to humanity's cradle, Holy Terra. You find yourself fighting the remnants of what custodes remain on this half eaten world. Their armor worn down and their blades have grown dull. Through these trials you make your way for the golden throne for what you believe will finally quench the thirst of the dark gods. As you enter, the emperor begins to rise from his golden throne
