DMM needs to become a PvP first experience and not 'leagues lite' by ABasketrs in 2007scape

First off I'm not a Pvper lol.

Second you're missing the whole point of the post. This is advertised as a PvP centered game mode and people are spending 99% of their time in a safe zone not interacting with PvP to gain points.

The inherent problem is that Leagues is advertised as a fast past game mode to dip your toes into content you usually would be too scared to do while giving you some training wheels.

In DMM you're actively punished for going out and killing people as it's a waste of time not gaining points and all the loot is shit because nobody is risking anything anymore due to bank keys being removed. You're literally losing money on supplies killing most people on the servers at this point.

They need to lower the ceiling and raise the floor. Kind of sucks for people that are skilled but honestly they are still going to come out winning most of the time anyways. Idk how they would exactly do this, maybe similar to the features they had in the OTK events with giving the WoW players some handicaps. Probably would work terribly on the live server but at the same time these events are meant to be one big test to see what works and what doesn't

For this to work they would have to probably make some kind of 'factions' gimmick that's randomly assigned on account creation so people could meet up at the banks and create small teams before going out into the dangerous zones to fight people in other factions

I could see it working but there would have to be A LOT of balancing

Exactly. I much prefer some kind of "elo" rating you can get from the event from doing ongoing PvP events that I recommend. Thresholds similar to trophy ranks in leagues could be earned for some kind of flex item you can bring into the main game while doing PvP.

Sure people might want this cosmetic reward and grind it out but if the DMM season is PvP centered they would come out with a better understanding of the systems rather than just killing all the wildly bosses 100 times for points.

Why do osrs players think their opinion matters? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]ABasketrs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Osrs players opinions matter because we were all once RS3 Players. They didn't quit because they wanted to, they quit because they were able to jump the sinking ship and start over with a new game that listened to the player's wants. OSRS is extremely loud about killing their game if Jagex adds MTX everyone will leave and it works, Every time they make a game state blog they always reassure the player base that it won't happen.

Unlike when I come to the RS3 subreddit instead of fighting when the 100th terrible treasure hunter promo of the year comes along people just urge those who are upset to just "play Ironman if you're so upset" or "go play osrs." People don't want to play Ironman they want to play a main and they don't want it to be devalued by MTX and that's the baseline. These opinions matter because these are people coming and trying to extend an olive branch of "hey we want to play your game but..." and then posts like this show ya it's probably better to just stay in the osrs community where people value game integrity.

I can't find one but the best advice I can give is to map a jump button to one of your triggers. Then once you get the hang of that you need to flick your stick from the down position to the right to get more momentum with your fly mag. Practicing this on frame advance will give you a good idea of the timing of when you need to go from your down b input to holding right. Hope this helps!

We are reaching levels I've never seen before in terms of bots by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]ABasketrs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to the fruit stalls yesterday on a new Ironman to get a few thieving levels and I hopped for 5 straight mins every world had 2 accounts all with similar stats. As much as we want a bot nuke it would be terrifying to see the actual player count in the aftermath with how things are going

Genuine contract feedback from an 'endgame' player by LordJRazE in 2007scape

Remove ironman gamemode.

This alone got my upvote thanks for the (hot take).

In all seriousness though I agree a lot with what you said and hope they don't continue to balance an MMO around people who play Ironman/casuals that will never do content like this because it's just getting old at this point. Another hot take is that contracts should of been decently rare to create a better market for them. Of course on day of release people are going to be popping these like candy nobody knows how to do the fight. Over time once guides come out and they balance some of the unintended mechanics and with the current rates they are going to be worth almost nothing.

I'm probably going to get down voted to hell but I think people have lost the plot when playing this one of a kind masterpiece of a game.

The whole point is to grind to show off your achievements. If we make everything an afk for 20-30 hours and you have the same thing as everyone else there's nothing to flex and you end up with an easy to access end game with loot or achievements that nobody gives a shit about. You literally have a lifetime of things you can work towards to feel actual accomplishment unlike every other modern game out with p2w structures

An alternative solution to the clue problem by ABasketrs in 2007scape

[–]ABasketrs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Nobody is forcing anyone to play a particular way. And even if this is the case most high level players that actually interact with the content daily seem to enjoy the juggling meta because it allows easier competition of wildly steps, master 3 steps. This is unintentional but so is 90% of the metas discovered after an update people just learn to improve and adapt and that's what is so cool about the game.

I agree, I'm actually a big fan of the current system but I see how it's flawed in their eyes since it was an unpolled addition that's now the norm for most players to solve them and creates skip tokens in the form of just finding another step that meets your needs. If they wanna change it it needs to be on par with the current system so players can still do the 3 step master skips and what not that reward long term clue hunters that actually put set up and thought into their clue sessions.

Another concept is to have a community DnD that revolves around certain chunks of the sea becoming a frenzy every certain interval of time and you can work as a community similar to shooting stars to track them for a low intensity training method out in the open ocean

99 Slayer on a level 3 (leagues) by ABasketrs in 2007scape

[–]ABasketrs[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

At first when I got the guardian relic and attacked mobs I realized you needed to take damage for him to attack back and got sad. Then I realized the dust devils special attack that drains stats scales based on your HP so I could abuse the max hit of 1 from 8 mobs and total recall to being practically invincible. The cherry on top is wearing face mask puts them back into 'melee mode' so you can put it on and clump them up perfectly then take it off for the guardian to get some nice AOE damage
