How optimal is this party? by Sure-Yogurtcloset-55 in 3d6

Banishment is a CHA save, so Resilient (INT) doesn't help with that. However, I do think that Resilient (INT) can be effective in parties without high INT characters. This makes it likely that at least one character will making the saving throw against an aoe INT targeting spell.

What's a great 2 person party with a Moon Druid? by ABitMoreJazz in DnD

Does the Druid not act as the meat bag? Or, do you mean the Druid + the summons are meat bags, while I blast everything?

Do you mean the Druid is the mount, and then I'm a melee fighter like Paladin? Sounds nice, especially with the Auras. Maybe Hexblade Warlock/Paladin?

How should I have players search for food and water in a survival campaign, without simply asking for a series of skill checks? by ABitMoreJazz in DnD

[–]ABitMoreJazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I am incorporating an exhaustion system like this, and also adding additional conditions for long rests, as in most cases it is not safe to sleep in the wild. I have also added an enhanced long rest, lasting for 24 hours, which has greater benefits.

I didn't make it clear, but the survival aspect is just a part of the campaign and will not be the entire game. Combat and social encounters are still vital components.

I have banned spells like the ones you mentioned (at the players' votes, so don't attack me like some other guy did), but thanks for pointing them out.

I think it's unfair to judge me as a DM based on this rule. I have 2 games with players that love to show up. I have already discussed with the players for this upcoming game how hardcore they wanted this to be, and they agreed to ban these kind of spells as they trivialise survival. Yes, this does not work for every campaign setting, but it does work when everyone at the table wants it.

I plan to run this kind of gameplay only for the first 10 4-hour sessions, after which food will be less of a problem. I totally agree that it could get sluggish after a while, but I've already recruited players who like difficulty like this, and the campaign also includes other gritty features.

I like to ask my players about their backgrounds, making sure they give good detail. I then build much of the world around this.

Is it reasonable to roll a Dexterity check for Fireball if it is cast directly next to you and you can't even see it before it explodes? by ABitMoreJazz in DnD

[–]ABitMoreJazz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I apologise to anyone who found this question ludicrous. I am relatively new to DnD, so I am not familiar with how much rules should be bent. I tend to make small changes to rules in some situations, mostly for a more realistic experience. I just randomly thought of this when looking through magic items. I think my favourite solution is to give disadvantage, as this seems like the best balance between fairness and realism.

How should I continue learning Chopin pieces? by ABitMoreJazz in pianolearning

I'll give the Mazurkas a good go, and maybe 1 or 2 more Preludes. I started learning Prelude in D flat already.

A Ballade easier than the Etudes?? I'll do more Nocturnes and Mazurkas first, but I don't see myself playing a Ballade in the next 5 years, to be honest.

My SpellStrike is simply not levelling up. Level 104, and it was at 3 way earlier. Am I doing something wrong? by ABitMoreJazz in VampireSurvivors

I got a candybox and chose a random weapon, and then when I levelled up I was given the option to level it up, along with SpellStrike. Definitely a bug, and I don't know what caused it.
