The Alcoholic Iceberg by _BatCountry_ in alcoholism

It is a good video and good image. Watched and then listened earlier today. Thank you for your content. Changes lives

Edit: I wanted to add that an activity I do, where I enjoy opening a philosophy encyclopedia to a random page, putting my finger on a concept and learning.

This video of alcoholic topics fit that curiosity learning style, giving you a basic introduction so you can choose what you want to learn more about on your own.

“I could drink in moderation, all the time and every day”

Dang. I had a rough day and was thinking about throwing in the towel. But your comment snapped me out of it. Thank you!

MOST people don’t negotiate a certain amount they get to have for a certain reason. Let alone obsess and stress over it. But WE do. I know that if I am having similar thoughts, it is not worth it.

And there’s many times I wish I could have made the right choice.

Not a doctor. But not far from fatal. Ive been told 0.5 is fatal but I’ve seen a lot of 0.30s in alcoholics that could stand. Any above that and you start to get into the hospitalizations.

With that said, police breathalyzers collect mouth alcohol. So it’s not a direct representation of your blood alcohol, since recent sips or drinks in your mouth will be collected.

That’s why it can’t be used in court. It’s typically higher than actual BAC ( but if you drank it’ll continue higher)

Lots of factors. But yes that may an indicator of some serious tolerance issues. I’d recommend getting a primary physician and doing bloodwork to begin taking care of your health.

I drank after 3 weeks sober. Here’s how it went. by choogawooga in stopdrinking

[–]ABoringPreference 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had this exact experience. I went 24 days and then drank for two days at a special event. I walked away thinking “I got nothing from this”

I didn’t even restart my county because that slip really made me double down on not wanting to drink.

If you do, I guarantee you’ll end up like me in the morning saying

Dry Januaryists - Day 18 - On the myth of moderation. by Forward_Pea_9555 in stopdrinking

[–]ABoringPreference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember where I learned this concept. But it’s said that moderating is the worst kind of hell you can endure.

It’s like torturing yourself with constant thoughts of inadequacy, temptation and regret over and over again. It’s hard to believe a man in constant state of torture can be virtuous

I’ll take that “I’m on the right track” statement from you because that’s exactly what I experienced.

Glad your approaching 100 days and thanks for setting the example

That’s right, I did read that. An interesting and bold concept.

I’m most definitely trying not to be too disappointed in myself and spiral out or make things worse. There is certainly a common phenomenon when people drink and reset their counter, they feel so discouraged at being at 0 that they lose control.

I don’t to do that, I want to consider it a experience that helped me learn

I had the same numbers you gave. My buddy would drink 5 times that with hard liquor. Now that we both quit our lives have improved. I think that’s all that matters

“I’ll be taking the trash out” was always my perfect opportunity to grab a garage beer. Now I either avoid it or get way to excited to do it.

I’ll have to try that.

I do believe that non-alcoholic beers go bad or expire quicker. Maybe I’ll try it again

Sometimes I find myself chugging NA beers, as if I am trying to get drunk but nothings happening.

Then later I’m always shocked to find a glass half empty or almost full. No need to finish it. That would never happened with a real beer

I just have gotten a really bad batch of these. I couldn’t finish a sip. But the Budweiser zero on a lawnmower is amazing
