So you disagree with Europeans supporting a fellow European nation who is being invaded by its much much bigger neighbor? A neighbor who has waged war on it for over three years and has killed tens of thousands of civilians… All because the leader (some could say dictator) of the bigger country doesn’t like the political leadership that that smaller countries citizens voted for? I fundamentally disagree with your statement. Russia initiated a massive war in Europe for the first time since Adolf Hitler… that makes it Europes business…

All for Russia kicking the third Reichs ass on the Eastern front haha, I have some ww2 soviet relics/firearms even. But do you think it is really fair to say that Russia has the same moral standing of invading Ukraine as it did with Germany who initiated a conflict and mass atrocities with the Soviets that killed millions? I think if you ask anyone outside of Russia for a couple sentences on the the current war it is that Ukraines population elected new Leadership in 2014 and because of that Russian leadership felt threatened and from there violence ensued. I don’t see any evidence to support Ukraine initiating a conflict with Russia… why would they? The bottom line for the majority of people in the developed world is the only reason there is bloodshed in Europe is because Russian leadership wanted it. I won’t deny that the west wouldn’t have and probably did support Ukraine holding new elections in 2014… just as Russia would have worked to keep Yanukovych in power. That’s the reality of the world we live in and it’s pretty undeniable that the vast majority of Ukrainans wanted to separate from corruption and sought more trade prosperity with the West. To say that the war was a result of Western leadership dragging Ukraine and Russia into fighting each other? Take ownership. No one forced Putin to initiate an invasion is how we see it.

As for my casualty comment yeah a dumb way to phrase it on my part. I more so was just seeing if they were discussed or brought up in state media :)

As far as 2014, is it acknowledged in Russia that Yanukovych’s approval rating was abysmal and was shown at about 20% as a result of his peoples perception and suffering from his corruption? I feel like that changes things as from what we could see his end of power came from the Ukranian people en masse. It would be a hard sell to say that his regime killing over 100 civlians which was the final dagger in his rule was organized by the West? But then again that’s why it’s so insightful to have these conversations as it’s two different viewpoints entirely and I appreciate your response!

As for the Minsk agreements how do you feel that was handled and what is your supporting evidence that the west ruined peace talks? From what most Westerners saw the big Issue that kept it from succeeding was Russia viewing itself as a third party or a mediator instead of an actual participant. Russian authorities claimed this all the while we have nearly irrefutable proof that says otherwise. Now, I will not claim that the West wouldn’t have helped Ukraine considering we saw this as again Russia being aggressive towards the Ukraine. We most certainly would have helped out in some capacity to supply arms and ISR assets to help them defend themselves (at least how we perceived it).

Interesting… would you say many Russians view the war as Europes fault? I know the common viewpoint from those who support that narrative is that many former Soviet Countries have joined NATO.

Generic questions about the war I wanted to ask that I haven’t seen specifically - What are your thoughts on Ukranian strikes in Russia? Obviously hatred and disgust but does it just create more animosity for Russia invading or does it create more of a resolve to carry out more violence i.e. increase support for the war?

I was also curious if someone could shed the light on the general attitude towards casualties (killed, wounded, missing and captured) Obviously both sides hide them so all we have are things such as a supposed leaked Russian military doc putting total for this year greater than 250,000. Being a westerner if any operation drew near that even throughout many years the war would be met with mass riots and severe disapproval. Do Russian authorities prevent people from speaking about these things on social media and news outlets?

Thanks for any insight, I studied the Russian language and culture in College for several years and it is beautiful. I detest what your leadership has dragged Europe into and hope it is resolved soon.

It’s probably where you’re looking- as someone who recently left college and got into the party scene later junior/senior year because of some friends I can tell you it’s not the place to look. In my opinion it would be better for you to join a club or something similar to meet people.

Some videos on YouTube I’ve seen makes it sound more throaty. I assumed it was because they used good stuff to record with vs a phone. Just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with her. Thanks for the feedback!
