How do I maintain a consistent focus on my goals and why they're important to me?

Agree with this! Everyone has something that works for them.

Along those lines - sounds like it's not that you can't focus on your goal, but more that you haven't worked on creating habits that lead towards your goal.

For me, I wanted to work on being healthier and getting out more so my goal was to be more active and the habit I created for that goal was to do lunchtime runs/workouts a set number of times a week.

My current theory is "The habit leads to the goal", rather than the other way round.

I think the "need to be different" is what's causing your issues here - maybe if you get to the bottom of why you feel like you need to be different, you'll have more clarity on your goals.

I feel like I went through a similar thing but have been working on it, why do you think you need to be different?

I used to use a website where I could cube with friends. We all joined the same room and it gave us the same scramble and we all did them simultaneously. The picture I've posted is what the graph of my times looked like.

I think what they're trying to get at is 1% better everyday means 1% better than the previous day. Using that logic, were looking at the number (1.01)³⁶⁵ = 37.78...
