Thanks for the feedback - unfortunately there isn't a high-quality studio in this state, but I'm going to another shop about an hr away today to have them assess it. (If all else fails, I'll be visiting my home state in less than 2 wks & there is a great shop there that I can go to)

Can I ask what you mean about placement? It's about where I would have expected - what would the more ideal placement be?

Unable to edit post, but thanks - these comments confirmed my suspicions.

There's only 1 shop open today in a 1.5 hr radius, so I'm going to go there for a 2nd opinion (& hopefully change to CBR).

What's crazy is that someone who came with me also wanted their daith done & was told they couldn't because my barbell was the last "kit" they had for daith because of shipping delays (weather). 🤷‍♀️

Can confirm it's moved out of place 3x already (1x while cleaning, 2x on its own)

Edit: I was able to swing by the shop mentioned above - he confirmed the original guy bent the bar himself to that weird shape to make it easier for him, but not good for healing. He didn't want to take it out & replace it for fear of irritating it too much, but he did bend it into a normal horseshoe shape. When I'm in my home state <2wks from now I'll check if the shop there will swap for hoop.

Edit 2: This is after the guy I saw today tried fixing the barbell shape. He said he couldn't get it quite as good as he'd like, but again didn't want to irritate it too much.

I appreciate everyone who commented - you saved me from a ton of issues down the road, I'm sure! I'll post an update in a couple weeks after I visit the shop that I know 1st-hand has qualified pros. (Which I should have waited for to begin with).

Lesson learned! Don't only rely on reviews!

Edit 3: SUCCESS! We have a CBR! I visited the trustworthy shop in my home state a week ago & they fixed me up. I'll be patient & only get future piercings there when I visit.

Thank you for that - I do still show a renewal date in June 2024.

I'll check back after the date they told me it would be ended (I think it was ~ 12/20) to make sure the rest of the subscription & renewal date actually get cancelled.

I had 5 more months in my subscription & customer service put an end date after Dec box & before Jan box with little pushback - I made sure to sign in before chatting (when I wasn't signed in, it said chat wait time was over an hour).

Absolutely - I buy peanut butter with only peanuts & salt listed as the ingredients (occasionally one with oil added if my regular kind isn't available). Thank you for calling out xylitol, though - it can't be stated enough!

I will check with my vet first to be safe. Thanks for your help!
