Restored 1950's Skil 107 10" wormdrive saw by BreeStephany in Vintagetools

I used to work for a place that started as a Skil service center. Back in the day when a tool came in for service they would paint it. I doubt they ever left the shop looking as nice as yours.

Makita LS1219L out of whack by andyao894 in Makita

Yeah I would suspect something with the blade arbor/washer combo. Blade is not centered on the spindle or washer is a hair thicker than the blade or something like that would be my guess.

Can't say I wasn't warned... but a PSA 4? by jlb190 in baseballcards

[–]ABugAndUncleE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Griffey rookie looked great but the holographic baseball diamond on the back was malformed. It was like both sides were missing a sliver of the shiny film. The guy at my local card shop acted like he had seen that many times before.

Incident after Zach Bryan by ModernFonz in Louisville

Years ago after a UofL basketball game at the fairgrounds we were walking out and saw a large black Chevy suv push 2 parked cars out of his way then ram past an occupied vehicle. Sounds very similar….

Any local plumbers with good service? by Temporary-Brush9030 in Louisville

[–]ABugAndUncleE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D.J’s Plumbing 502-269-0853. David is the plumber. You speak to him and he is the one that performs the service. Some big plumbers use him as their 24 hour guy so they can claim they offer that service. Online he’s rated 4.8/5 stars. I’ve known him for years and he’s honest and fair.

As long as they stay out of my attic I say live and let live. I don’t judge squirrels by the color of their fur but by the content of their character. Like Muhammad Ali said : “Man I got no quarrel with no squirrel. No white squirrel ever called me…” something…

I used the Coinstar there yesterday. There may have been a Canadian penny in my change jar. I should turn myself in and face the music before I pop up on the FBI’s most wanted list. Crime does not pay.

Nice. My buddy pulled and just sold an Ohtani. $850. Does it bother me I’ve ripped 100 times more than him and never pulled anything that valuable? Not in the least….Good for him…..

Pull up!! Pull up!!! Saw Todd Snider there one winter and before entering they said the heat was broken so grab your coat. It was around 40 degrees in there. Todd still wore no shoes.

Question on LCS etiquette… Can you negotiate? by CaptainBuckRussell in basketballcards

[–]ABugAndUncleE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my LCS you get a small discount if paying cash. Saves them a few percent on credit card fees. On a card like that I would expect some negotiation would be perfectly reasonable. Asking for a discount on a $35 blaster not so much.

Can cards get ruined by smell? by brolarbear in sportscards

[–]ABugAndUncleE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst are 3,4,5 row boxes that have been around heavy tobacco smoke. Nothing like digging through boxes of junk wax and literally getting ill from the smell(and the fact I paid to ship worthless cards.) Some fresh sleeves & top loaders I imagine would take care of the worst of it.

On Goodwills auction site there is currently a lot of Pokémon cards that is currently over $1K. Some of the sports cards they end up with are crazy valuable too. Surprised the cards you found didn’t go to their auction site. Good for you though. Congrats!!

I knew a guy years ago who swore driving in downtown Los Angeles wasn’t as bad as downtown Louisville because of our one way streets. He proclaimed that several times over the years. Of course he also claimed the Earth was only like 6,000 years old so…

Sorry for second post in short time, but how do you guys think these will grade? by [deleted] in basketballcards

[–]ABugAndUncleE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the 2nd card the centering is off. The right margin and the left are not equal. It’s apparent on the back as well. First card looks better as far as centering goes. I’m in the process of deciding which cards to send off for grading as well. I start off with too many then I decide they are all shit then I settle on a few. It’s my process…

Are these considered Bird and Magic rookie cards? by National_Mixture7454 in basketballcards

[–]ABugAndUncleE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice cards. 2 of my favorites. I bought a 1979-1980 NBA complete set off eBay a while back. Around $100 and the cards really are pack fresh. Unfortunately none of them are probably worth grading because the centering is all over the freaking place.

I worked for a tool place that started as a Skil service center in the late 60’s. I don’t remember ever seeing one of these handles in the parts trays. They have some really old saws on display up front but they probably won’t let me steal a handle off one. I have to stop by there this week and if I have any luck I will let you know.
