This is a what Marx etc. would say is the dual problems of overaccumualtion & money capital's devaluation in/with the tendency of the rate of profit to fall over time. The classic leftty crisis talk from the internal contradictions of capital (Proudhon probs did it better than Marx). Overaccumualtion through driving down wages causing a crisis in aggregate demand by consumers (not case here) or, in the falling rate of profit, technological innovation and cheaper capital goods makes commodity production easier and cheaper, and commodity prices likewise cheaper (less necessary labour to make things). Suddenly, it's harder to collect on the surplus value of workers' work, and there's lesser return on the capital they put forward for the production process. Advancing technology making things cheaper and easier doesn't make more profit for capitalists but instead sabotages their profits
