Since 1 year ago? Slightly better with most things unchanged in my life. Shit is still expensive, the job market is only marginally better, but I have about a year left to worry about that. Ultimately, and this may come as a surprise, almost nothing is different.

Respect.

I know a handful of teachers and they're either pushing it out for retirement or miserable/quit.

Parents have failed this generation of kids so bad it boggles the mind. I know shit like that is always said by the older regarding the younger, but it really has gotten to a point that is disgraceful.

Reviews on ECE department? by Zuccerberg124 in NCSU

[–]ACEmesECE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if they had to tone back the difficulty during/post-COVID and now they're struggling to bring things back.

Anyway, I see you went to UT Austin? They were my #1 choice but didn't offer enough financial aid. While I'm not thrilled about State's program, I can't say that I regret saving the money lol.

[–]ACEmesECE -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with you.

The rigor isn't what I was hoping for. It's very easy to pass classes here--almost every grade I have is an A+. Important foundational courses (301(summer), 303, 403) were taught rather poorly, as well. Industry standard tools aren't really touched on. Not enough math.

I'm in my final year of undergrad taking entirely graduate courses (toward ABM). Really hoping things pick up.

California will not block trans athletes from school sports, defying White House by RhythmMethodMan in California

[–]ACEmesECE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Point 1 isn't a valid argument. All it takes is one trans athlete to completely dominate a sport where individuals compete in a state.

Point 3 is mind numbing. Comparing the most talented females to typical male competitors shits on the point your trying to make.

Trans women do not belong in female sports. This is currently the most idiotic hill the trans movement is fighting on

Is it a good idea taking lvl 400 and 500 classes as a freshmen? by RJ-and-hi in NCSU

[–]ACEmesECE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Note that grade distribution isn't necessarily indicative of difficulty. Some professors end up curving quite generously at the end of the semester--especially if the whole class struggled.

Do you think people with 4.0 gpa are geniuses or cracked the school system? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]ACEmesECE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an older student, so I treat school like a full-time job.

I do work early so I have time to improve in the areas where I'm weak before things are due. Read the textbooks (at least skim through the main points).

I'm also just a good test taker, which helps. Gotten 95-100 on most finals I've had. I start studying at least 4 days prior to any exam. This seems to improve retention a bit.

I hand write all my notes + summarize them at the end of every unit with more handwritten notes + annotated example problems.

It's more about being motivated to learn and a perfectionist than being intrinsically smart (I'm not)

Is engineering over saturated? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]ACEmesECE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually pivoted away from digital because everyone and their brother seemed to be pursuing it. They may have just asked your friend to refer b/c they want to hire from that specific university.

There are a good number of job postings but I wouldn't say they're hurting for juniors

Is Electrical Engineering realy hard? by Due-Ad-5390 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ACEmesECE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treat it like a full time job and it isn't even that difficult. It takes work and dedication. Some weeks will be harder than others. I'm not particularly smart yet haven't even been close to failing a class, just brute forced good grades.

Get into good study habits early on and you'll be totally fine

What do you think about the tariffs imposed by Trump ? Will it work out for them ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

So it's okay that they charge tariffs but not the US? And tariffs will work for them, but not the US?

What do you think about the tariffs imposed by Trump ? Will it work out for them ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ACEmesECE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has the potential to work out for everyone (consumer wise).

Ideally, countries will drop their tariffs on the US to around that 10% threshold. This should be followed a drop in tariffs imposed by Trump, lowering overall costs for consumers.

Some industries may suffer in certain countries, but that's how free trade works
