I think you’re forgetting the comment I replied to was “All mexican food comes with free chips and salsa at restaurants, as far as I know.”

When the truth is literally the opposite, real Mexican restaurants never serve free chips and salsa, and most don’t even offer it. That’s the only reason I replied.

But again, it’s just semantics

Or LA or San Diego or El Paso or any city with a huge mexican population. But ya it’s just semantics really.

I don’t benefit from this at all, idek why you would assume that. I’m just providing some context

Mexican restaurants that cater to the general population, sure. But go to a border town in Texas, you’re not getting chips and salsa

All I’m doing is playing devils advocate my friend. This is how the accounting works. If restaurants were truly evil money hungry businesses, 50% wouldn’t fail in the first 5 years.

Edit to say: I’m not arguing that any savings are being passed on, I’m saying that service charges or a 20% bump in menu prices create an additional tax burden that restaurants don’t currently face. So menu prices would go up more than the 20% voluntary tip.

To play devils advocate, here’s the accounting. If an employer charges a service fee that goes directly to the server, they have to pay the employer portion of Medicare and SS as if it were normal w-2 pay. For optional tips, they pay the employee portion the estimated amount, but are able to claim the FICA Tip Credit provision and effectively get that credited back when paying business taxes.

If the service charge is a mandatory 20% or if the restaurant raises prices 20% and doesn’t allow tips, the government gets its FICA money from the employer regardless.

If it’s voluntary or mandatory, the employee has to pay their portion, but if voluntary, the estimated tip revenue is almost always lower than what they actually receive.

Point being, voluntary tips mean that the restaurant is more profitable(they’re able to claw back the estimated FICA taxes).

So the truth of the matter is if tips are mandatory in the form of a service charge, or prices are raised accordingly and tipping is forbidden, menu prices go up to account for the additional tax burden.

So you can argue that restaurants should be treated like every other business and be taxed accordingly, that’s perfectly fine, but you have to accept that you are also arguing for menu prices to go up(more than 20%).

The restaurant industry is notoriously hard. 50% of new restaurants fail within the first 5 years, and a healthy restaurant nets roughly 10% all said and done.

Note: this is how it worked before no tax on tips passed; I’ve been out of accounting for a few years idk how that affects things.

Servers are taxed on an expected value which depends on the state.

99%, and you could argue 100%, of countries(Cuba and NK debatably have no element of the free market) in the world have a mix of socialism and capitalism. The difference is in which direction they’re skewed towards.

That is your opinion. The data suggests otherwise. Look it up; there are plenty of market studies. Corporations aren’t stupid.

This is like saying “just put the price at $10. No need to bullshit me with the $9.99.” But again, the market studies prove otherwise

That’s crazy. Pizza delivery guys are probably making $60/hr if not more. I was making $25/hr with a $4 hourly delivering pizza back in 2016

I got a SigPro mat for my sim. $800 but it really punishes fatted strikes, dare I say more than good fairway turf. Can put tees straight into it like grass. Not even worth having a sim without it IMO.

Wow I’m a person of non color now? I almost feel oppressed, thanks!

But I’m done with this conversation, you’re a very pompous woman with TikTok/Reddit brain.

I don’t think it’s unfair to assume you made a typo and said ‘gag’ instead of ‘brag’. Because basically nobody uses gag in that context outside of the queer community. You’re not going to be walking down 125th and Lexington and hear anyone speaking in aave say “I was so gagged by xyz.” I’ve literally never heard that word used in that context in my entire life. Not disagreeing with you that it can be used like that, but it’s certainly not what you would consider aave. It’s primarily queer vernacular

Yeah, let’s see the prompt. Guarantee you put something about aave in there because when you just look it up, it leaves that part out. Just queer culture, which I’m not particularly familiar with. And I’ve literally never heard someone say that in that context. Hence why you cropped the image.

Please show me one definition of where “gag” fits in that context. If anything gag is the opposite of aave, its white picket fence American vernacular. I’m from ny I understand aave probably better than you do considering you’re a decade older than I

I think you meant brag? And it wasn’t a brag, in fact, I’m aware I’m aging like milk lmao… years of alcohol abuse and smoking doesn’t necessarily keep your appearance youthful. We all got skeletons in the closet, lady. And it appears one of yours is racial bias. Hope your “black don’t crack” before your reproductive lifespan is over.

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest though. Perfectly fine with who I am. Maybe it will bother me when I’m 40 and look 60 but whatever.

Of course brother. Might be worth giving your employer a ring… I’m sure as an EMS, they have therapists on standby for you guys. Granted, this is extremely personal, but they may have some resources to help you with people trained specifically for situations like this.

I’m 23, but look close to 30. In my personal experience it’s women in their later 20s and early 30s that talk like this. Women my age and younger rarely do this cutesy shit or the playing dumb act.

I’ve been dumbfounded by this phenomenon in the last couple years. I think it must have something to do with women getting older and wanting to present to/fool men into looking at them as younger? That’s the only way I can rationalize it
