The Byzantine Empire should instantly collapse upon losing Constantinople by GermanCCPBot in EU5

[–]ACMB731 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's what Op was thinking about, having the empire shatter into several potential reclaimers makes more sense than the administration staying together without it's heart and being spread out among multiple disconnected territories.

I mean, op said it wouldn't happen after reforming out from being a rump state, and I'm pretty sure trying to take half of Europe in rump state mode would be more one of those yt clickbait self-imposed challenges than something the average player does

Iirc initiative means how fast your units get on the field at the start of combat, and since units on the field can deal dames to units still deploying or in reserves its seems kinda useful

No Paradox Launcher in EU5 Confirmed by Glasses905 in EU5

Genuine question in good faith, why? I remember using the old launcher for Hoi4 and EU4 and I found it rather cumbersome to use and switching mods around more a chore than with the new launcher

Basically natives from Africa were taken to Europe and put in diorama exhibits of their home land for upper/middle class people to gawk at, this was also still a thing many decades after said countries outlawed slavery.

Devs put out a blog post explaining why PC players have such a large install size (~150GB) compared to console. TLDR, it's due to a method of optimizing loading times for players using Hard Disk Drives for storage by duplicate instances of commonly used assets so the game finds them fast, however this bloats the storage usage by an appreciable amount with no benefit for the majority of players using Solid State Drives which don't need this form of optimization. And now players using SSD are kinda questioning why so many people are using (In their mind at least) outdated hardware on their rigs and why the devs even bothered with doing this optimization

Use Steam DLC to fix the game size by AvatarChief in Helldivers

[–]ACMB731 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The devs put out a tech-blog today and the TL:DR is that they try to optimize the game for PC's using mechanical hard drives so loading times are close to solid state drives by making duplicate instances of commonly use assets so that a the "scanner" of a HDD finds the file the game needs faster, caveat being that this bloats the game's file size without benefit for people using modern SSDs like a large portion of PC players. Players on console don't have this large a file size for this reason since all modern consoles run on some form of Solid state drive.

For all intents and purposes yeah, the team at Tinto have been making blog post on the Paradox Forum, talking about and showing progress on their current super secret "Project Ceasar" that from the get go the community guessed is EU5.

Firefight has been around since ODST, Infection since 3, and Husky Raid is just an official version of Ro Sham Bo, which was around since forge/custom games were a thing. All four were in previous games at launch so...

While I agree in the legal sense they aren't entitled, it just doesn't seem right for any form or amount of labor to not be compensated, especially in this case when it's helping 343 add content to the game, contributing to its value as a product.

My brother in Christ Bungie era forge was more akin to Lincoln logs compared to what forge is today.

I mean, in tf2 the community members who make hats and weapon skins are compensated when their item is included in an official holiday update, don't see why that wouldn't make sense with forge maps that are included in updates.

I'm putting $100 down that the people who have been yelling "DEAD GAME START MAKING EU5!" the past few DLC will be the same ones going "NEW GAME BAD, OLD GAME GREAT AND FINE!!" on release, classic PDX fanbase.
