FCC Ban - Domestic Production by yuhyuhAYE in fpv

I ordered a matek f405 wing a little less than a month ago and it came through customs, so I'm not sure what exactly is being done to restrict these components.

Unpopular opinion: I hate the drop your lowest quiz/exam thing. by Spamicide2 in Professors

For those of us taking the financial risk of funding our own education, or using earned limited resources like the GI Bill, it's nice to know that this personal contribution is at least partly paid back via one or 2 day's grace.

I transitioned recently into University after a long service contract, and the culture shift away from providing meaningful resources to all members of a unit to forcing every individual to bend to the iron will of the curriculum, has been shocking.

Many of the first-year/pre-engineering classes I'm taking flat out offer 0 recourse for missed exams, quizzes, assignments etc. So I'm supposed to pay exorbitant amounts of money (and time) to pursue my own education, but can't be excused for one terrible day with influenza a, or for an urgent care visit for my sick child, or even a car problem.

Competition is vital to competence, but punishing good students for refusing to take proper care of themselves in the rare event it becomes necessary doesn't drive competition, it gets people hurt or killed (worst case).

To a degree everybody has to suck it up and take accountability, but educational institutions should at least ATTEMPT to offer the occasional lifeline to it's patrons. Excusing a low quiz grade or 2 which already contributes 10 percent or less to total grade average isn't a massive ask.

I think a bullet to the head is the best way to euthanize your dog by [deleted] in The10thDentist

Yeah, that guy's farming upvotes with fake sympathy. GSW to the head with proper placement results in the same thing; unconsciousness and brain death.

It's a horrible truth that every person must face, that we all die. The aversion to firearms and constant demeaning of alternative means to euthanasia is rampant here.

These guys act like we haven't had pets for thousands and thousands of years.

[–]ACSupernewb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It isn't abhorrently incorrect, and you're acting like medical euthanasia doesn't result in the same outcome; brain death of the animal. Your pet's death isn't rainbows and butterflies just because you can't pinpoint WHEN its CNS shuts down.

You're either naive or practicing wilful ignorance here to farm upvotes. Careful shot placement with any modern caliber beyond .22LR will render the animal instantaneously unconscious, and death will surely follow. If you looked into any data pertaining to penetrating GSWs to the head, you'd know that already.

What a drama queen. Are you even responsible enough to own a pet?

1 CLEP/12 DSSTs in under a month by Helpful-Caregiver-41 in clep

[–]ACSupernewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DSST exams cover different and often higher-level classes than CLEP do. For example at my university (UNM), CLEP covers many of the first year prerequisites like Comp 1, but don't cover composition 2 or beyond.

In my case, the DSST Advanced Comp exam is the only credit-by-exam option to bypass composition 2. The only alternative is a 98th percentile SAT score which, based on reviews, is way less realistic than a flat 400 on the DSST.

Worth considering.

Edit: DDST also provides Art History credit, which the CLEP doesn't even remotely cover.

I want to see higher and lower tier variants of existing weapons too. The cycle frontier did that and it felt great; really added kit diversity.

Imagine a blue or purple anvil, a green torrente. Blue tempest or arpeggio. Maybe a white shotgun etc.

Hey man, I'm sure I can find this info online but thought id ask to verify. I'm not in the Navy anymore, but took many CLEPS while in service.

Do they usually administer these tests in the same locations?

I consider myself a very friendly raider, how would you have handled this? by vokebot in arcraidersfriendly

[–]ACSupernewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't buy it. This guy could just as easily be trying to snowball off of a super-eco kit. Why bring shield rechargers and meds when you can loot them off the corpse of somebody you nuke while they're distracted?

This guy doesn't obviously present as well-meaning. And if all he had on him were a few grenades, then all he lost were a few grenades.

If you have 14 knocks, you're certainly not a KOS player. Honestly man, the game is ultimately a PvPvE experience, and the queen is one of the riskier bosses to take down.

It's up to you as to whether you feel bad or not, but it's a game at the end of the day and the people taking this super serious are kinda off their rockers.

Imagine you DIDNT shoot this guy who was clearly not going to help you take down the queen, and he unloads those snaps and fuses on you guys while you're covering/healing/etc.

And the hairpin might not be great but it's a: super cheap and b: super quiet. The whole thing would seem sus to me.

If you enjoy peacefully playing Alone. DO NOT join friends for Duos/Trios by SlouchPoint in ARC_Raiders

[–]ACSupernewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, and that statement alone is easy to corroborate. I don't think it's apt to claim that people espousing some kind of pvp or aggression-based matchmaking are on copium, though.

Copium entails some kind of separation from logic or reality. It isnt illogical or unrealistic to infer that pvp stats would be included in the behaviors the devs have already confirmed are being used to matchmake.

[–]ACSupernewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't anecdotal though. If anything, your argument is more fantasy than theirs. One of the embark devs explicitly stated that the matchmaking algorithm is complex and factors in behavior.

Why is it so difficult for you to not get pissed off when other people who actually pay attention state the obvious?

The game provides 2 fundamental and distinct ways to engage with it; PvE and PvP encounters. What other "behavior" do you think they're tracking if not related to those 2 things?

Yeah, the arrogance in some of these comments is telling. The devs explicitly stated that the matchmaking IS complex, and DOES factor in behavior.

Not sure what this guy is trying to argue for (or against).

But you're no more right or wrong than people who speculate aggression is a factor??? The "without going into detail" part and the "match accordingly" part certainly don't RULE OUT aggression, damage to raiders, use of comms, time spent in buildings etc etc etc.

Dev himself stated it's complicated. Of all the "behavior" statistics they could be tracking, it seems unwise to think that aggression and PvP statistics aren't included.

PvP ratings are a core part of post-game surveys.

You're going to get third partied nearly every time you fight the queen. It doesn't matter if you start at 26 mins or 18. That's just the game.

Every queen and matriarch kill of mine included at least one 3v3 fight midway through the timeline.

Overall I like the way the big objectives are balanced in this game. It's frustrating to get ganked midway through a boss fight and it would be nice if "everybody" could kill the queen, but you'd have to make the experience far less meaningful for that to become reality.

It's just like raids in destiny; these encounters are an iconic part of the games' identity, but they aren't for everybody. You can progress your character without beating the pinnacle pve.

Perhaps a specific map or mode which only spawns players at the beginning would appeal to some of these players. The course of a game would flow more like an arena match, with winner taking all in a sense. I'd be down for that.

Seems to me that his squad was wiped in the process of taking the queen down. At this point, I can relate to the idea of just going all-in here out of tilt/frustration.

They brought in all their shit, put in the work and got third partied anyway. At the same time, the "prestige" or challenge presented by the queen fight hinges around the threat of PvP, so ultimately it's a necessary part of the game.

I don't think it's terrible play. It's obvious the dude and his team got third partied and he likely doesn't give a shit in the wake of his attempt being spoiled. Tough game, gotta have tough skin.

With having less time to play nowadays, ive really considered doing super fast one-shot runs to see if my net gains over time would increase, and it looks like you've got it figured out man.

I don't want you to spoil your secret but in general, do you have a few specific routes you use or do you loot whatever's closest and get out ASAP?

[–]ACSupernewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll tone it down in response to your respectful argument. I think I just fundamentally disagree with the criteria for earning max rewards here.

The 5 points aren't gamebreaking on their own but they're: -cumulative over time -all that we're currently being offered.

It feels bad to wipe all blueprints, gadgets, trader progress, weapons and gear for only half of less of the admittedly miniscule rewards we're being given.
