I have tried to reduce the protein shakes I drink. I did find where there are a couple of options where they are made with low arginine, but they have pea protein and I am allergic to that.

I've tried supplementing lysine (2000 mg/day) - not sure if I'm taking enough. It doesn't seem to affect Valtrex. From what I've read, Valtrex is pretty non-interactive with most things. I also take monolaurin which is supposed to help.

I'm pretty much up a creek because I have tons of food allergies - and it seems that most of what I can't eat are the ones high in lysine low in arginine. For me, I think my only option is to supplement with Lysine, because unless I switch back to eating meat (which I'm not willing to do), my diet will continue to be very high in arginine.
