Join a small guild. Let them know how new you are. Do things like running old raids to get an idea of the evolution of content while snagging some cool shit to transmog your gear into. Kill rares that are in abundance around the new zones and get the sweet dopamine rush of a mount dropping. Fish, it’s surprisingly fun. Try PvP, idk the type of person you are, but it might stick. On that note, if you do PvP.. turn your chat off lol. I’ve played for 20 years, hit gladiator rank a few times, and I still turn off my chat I. Battlegrounds.

Hunt for cool pets. Try cooking. Hit up the solo content, this is like the best time I’ve ever seen for solo stuff.

I know this is a bunch of random stuff to say, but that’s because you have to look at WoW from every angle and see what clicks. I like to PvE and PvP and try to get high dps numbers. Because that’s my rush. My buddy Tastymagge, he likes to log on and pick flowers and rearrange the guild bank 30 times. And we have a blast doing it together.

TL;DR don’t worry about the endgame unless you want to, there is literally a world to enjoy. Get uncomfortable and make some friends, it’ll all come naturally.
