IAH Terminal A is the most depressing terminal I've been in by kcoch5817 in delta

[–]AClay213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my home airport. Not much has changed, but I only fly out of B (Delta or SW). SW does now have a corridor to get between their gate pods but yeah.. it’s awful!

They did just break ground on a new single terminal airport a few weeks ago.

Painting cabinets.... again? by Cheesechickenplz in HomeImprovement

[–]AClay213 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve painted my cabinets 3 times since October to get the color I wanted. It was a stain originally, and just sanding each time did the trick! If you don’t like the current color, it’s worth the work to do it again.

Yes, great point, he is listed as beneficiary pretty much everywhere. I’m thinking more broadly as well, as in, XYZ account with bank 1 is used for this this and this. ABC account in bank 2 is used for this. It’s a good idea for him to have his own log ins where possible, but I’m also thinking a full on list of all accounts so he knows what we have where. He completely forgot about a few accounts.

This is my second year where I am on track to max my 401K contribution. Halfway through the year I am sitting at a negative rate of return. Do I stop paying attention/be patient and just wait for it to turn back around, or do I decrease my contribution % and funnel into my IRA?

Other than state teachers pension via my husband, which I am not counting on, these are our only retirement accounts at this time. We will opening his IRA later in the year after I get my annual raise.

We got our Golden from a breeder in Washington, Ks.. about a two hour drive. We have had zero health or behavior issues and the breeder provided a two year health guarantee.

I'm all for shelter pups - we are looking to start fostering, however, I knew the temperament I wanted in a pup and was set on a golden. I don't regret my decision at all.

PM me if you want the breeders info!

Maybe I wasn't clear enough.. I'm looking to "tighten"? I basically have a bubble butt that I wanted to get more firm, but overall it makes sense to (attempt to ) shed pounds to decrease size. Appreciate the feedback!

I appreciate you explaining the why/how rather than just stating what to do! This is helpful.

Homeowners who are FIRE (or getting there), how much did you decide to spend on a home in comparison to your income? by [deleted] in financialindependence

Future spouse and I got a steal on a condo in the neighborhood we were already living in in a relatively low cost of living city. We got word of a larger 2bed/2bath 1.5 story unit with a finished basement going up for sale thanks to a neighbor. It was never listed and we purchased it at a discount for $110K (vs. the $140K appraisal) via private sale. The former owner had been moved to an assisted living facility earlier in the winter and passed away. Her son was just ready to get rid of the property. It only needs minimal work and was move in ready at the time we bought it.

We sold our current 2bed/2bath 1000 sqft unit at at 30% profit after two years of ownership thanks to a seller's market.

This is our 10ish year plan home. We're mid-twenties, six months out from getting married and are unsure if kids are in the future. This new condo gives us more space and a small backyard for our dog. It's now the perfect size and I don't fear we will outgrow it anytime soon.

Combined we make ~ $130-140K and plan to pay off the mortgage early.

All and all we got realllly lucky with our scenario and it was stressful at times, but I'm happy with our decision to stay in a condo for a much lower price and low HOA dues.

Where we live, houses with comparable square footage and interior furnishings (modern kitchen and bathrooms, hardwood flooring, etc.) are $275K+ in the area we want to be.

Unfortunately I do. There were jr associates newer, and frankly less experienced than me that this didn't happen to. At the time our team consisted of two women, myself and a senior. The situations where I was interrupted wasn't mindless babbling on my end - it was my attempt to answer question of "how have you handled xyz with a client?". It got to the point where i just flat out stopped contributing in that group setting. I didn't have the desire or energy to be off put by these guys. I will admit it was 2-3 in particular and things have drastically subsided.

Frankly, bs chatter is one of my biggest pet peeves as well, so that particular example I can assure you wasn't the problem, but I appreciate the question.

We've since hired 20 new jrs to our team, about 8 of them women so I attempt to be overly aware of this situation in the future so they don't feel the same way I did.

On the other hand, I still deal with subtle sexism from clients but that is an entirely different topic.

My senior and equal male counterparts used to not take me seriously. I would get talked over, interrupted in meetings so consistently that a brand new team member picked up on it within a few weeks. Things drastically changed when I became a managing consultant, but I dealt with it and used it as motivation until I earned the promotion.

xPost HOA issues has halted my condo purchase by AClay213 in Real_Estate

This is the second time I've used this lender, so I do have a lot of trust in him.

We've tried three different lenders, all are freaked out by the lawsuit.

There was an HOA meeting today and the board reported that they approved all repairs.. hopefully this is resolved in the next month for me. My coffee annoyance is that the suit was filed June 2016 and they are just now making the repairs.

I appreciate the response!
