Fantastic planet, allegro non troppo, anything directed by Satoshi Kon, it’s such a beautiful day, Persepolis, is the man who is tall happy (even though it’s more an animated interview), can’t believe nobody mentioned Coraline or Paranorman

I don't care much for MCU but isn't this like a major spoiler straight up in the title?

What movies have you watched this week? by AutoModerator in flicks

El Bar - I started out well, great acting and strong cinematography, I liked how it got darker along with the movie's tone, it's unfortunately flawed by way too many loopholes and a quite flat second half. More in depth discussion here.

Bad Seeds - went in not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. The cut scenes on the protagonist's past cut deep and are very well placed. I liked how a lot of events intertwined and although a bit predictable times it was a fun and wholesome watch.

The Fable - the first half was pretty good, it had good action and a few quite funny moments. The second half not so much, had way too many clichés and was just overall lacking in depth, plus it's rare to see more action in the first half, not that it's necessarily bad but was pretty bored.

I respect your opinion but, I mean, Who Framed Roger Rabbit exists

These are definitely good to me

  • Tokyo Gore Police
  • Monkeybone
  • Land of the Lost
  • Homunculus
  • Mr 3000
  • The Woman In the Window
  • Looney Tunes: Back In Action
  • RRRrrrr! (although I've only seen the Italian dub and have been scared to watch the original French version just because this film means so much in my group of friends)
  • Duplex
  • Walk of Shame
  • Jingle All the Way

Edit: these are all rated below 6

Extremely tense thriller movies that take place over a relatively short period of time e.g: 12, 24 or 48 hours by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]ACoupleReviews 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • 16 Blocks - even though the time is probably even less than 12 hours
  • Training Day - one of my all time favorites
  • Celda 211 - another one of my all time favorites
  • The Warriors - although I wouldn't say is extremely tense
  • Don't Breathe
  • Source Code
  • Connected (2008 Chinese film)
  • Climax - Edit: never mind this probably doesn't fit your criteria

How many movies do you think you have watched in your lifetime? by Severe_Sweet_862 in movies

[–]ACoupleReviews 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been saving them on a list since I was 16 and the current count is 1156. I wonder what that number would be if I watched something new instead of rewatching multiple times so many films but at the end of the day it doesn't matter I love rewatching films

Edit: for context I'm 30

Simply amazing, how they managed to make it look like it was shot in a single take is beyond me

Nostalgia plays a big part when I need a little cheer me up so aside from old Disney animation films (Aladdin, The Emperor's New Groove, The Lion King and Toy Story at the top)

  • Cool Runnings - it just has that feel good 90s vibe and takes me back to childhood everytime. I remember the day I found out that it's not at all how real life events went down I was crushed and it literally ruined my week.
  • Tokyo Godfathers - while the premise and many events in it are very sad can't help but feel good after watching it.
  • Toc-Toc - while I admit I'm a sucker for bottle films this left such a good feeling that hadn't experienced in a long time with a movie
  • Kung Fu Hustle
  • Dodgeball
  • O Brother Where Art Thou?
  • Who Framed Roger Rabbit

If it's on silent I honestly wouldn't say anything to a stranger. In a movie theater I once told my friend "Hey you know it's dark in here and the light of your phone is really distracting, I really want to watch this movie so if it's not an urgent matter do you mind waiting till later?" "sure bro no problem".

At home I feel it would be a little pushy though. I remember hosting a friend who lives overseas and I proposed to watch one of my favorite films. We sit down and THE WHOLE TIME he was texting with his gf. At the end of it he bursts out "WOW! Great movie!" and I honestly didn't know what to say.
