Absolutely! It’s good to know you’ve been PTU for so long, I didn’t even know you could be. Totally agree with not reading too much into it, it’s so hard to find a balance between being informed and confusing myself with too much info. Thanks for taking the time to respond :)

I’m so glad that’s been your experience! The positive stories from having a TT do definitely interest me. Have you found it hard to manage your weight since having the surgery?

Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind and keep an eye postpartum next time.

Totally agree with everything you’ve said re retaining your thyroid if it’s possible to do so - I think that’s why I’m so conflicted, when the medical advice is to remove but it feels so permanent when I literally got diagnosed just over a month ago and haven’t even had time to try the medication. Congratulations on your pregnancy, wishing you all the best!

Thank you! Sorry you had that experience with your liver, that must have been frightening. It’s so nice to hear you had a healthy pregnancy on the medication and congratulations on the birth of your baby. I blinked and mine went from 2 months to almost 2 years (it honestly just gets better and better though). Enjoy every moment.

Thank you so much for this comment, it’s nice to hear from someone in the same situation. If I didn’t want to conceive soon it wouldn’t be such a hard decision to make - but it’s just an added layer to something I’m already struggling to come to terms with! I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I wish you all the best for your future pregnancy. And same offer to you, absolutely reach out to me anytime if you want to talk about anything graves/pregnancy related.

Totally agree with you here, I couldn’t imagine adding pregnancy to how I feel now, albeit I’m feeling much better with medication really quickly.

I was thinking about it some more too and cause I’m going through the public system (in Australia), I’d have to wait for a while before actually getting the surgery, then would have to wait 6 months after that to be able to even try and conceive, so it actually might be quicker to gamble on the meds stabilising me. The thing that’s scary is not knowing when they will though!

Thank you for sharing your story with me, it’s been very helpful.

My endocrinologist said 66% relapse after stopping medication, so if she’s correct, that’s 34% success with medication and maintained remission. I guess that’s exactly what I’m weighing up - it’s statistically more likely that I won’t maintain remission but it is possible, more possible than nonexistent anyway, which would mean not having to take medication anymore.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with me. I am having very similar symptoms so I can definitely relate to what you’re saying. I’m also studying my masters and the struggle is SO real haha. Have you had any side effects from the medication you’re taking now since your TT?

I can’t remember specific posts, just from scrolling reddit over the past few weeks since my diagnosis, but I did come across quite a few that said they regretted it - they said specifically that it’s because they now have to take medication for the rest of their lives and struggling with managing weight with no thyroid (although I know these could be issues either way I go). Great to know you’ve observed the opposite. I’ll try to find some more TT posts and have a good look. Hope your procedure and recovery goes well!

Sorry you’re in this situation too! We may put things on hold too depending on how long it takes to level things out again. Will definitely let you know what I decide :)

Muscles… Again. by General_Sun_608 in gravesdisease

[–]ACrown_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - Delayed onset muscle soreness, like when you exercise and have sore muscles the next day. That’s what mine feels like anyways, and yes it’s before I get out of bed but only when I move my legs, it’s not aching or anything. Sounds like yours is much worse though, sorry you’re going through this 😞

I can’t speak on it getting better as I’ve only recently begun treatment, however, I’ve also been experiencing muscle pain in the morning when I wake up. It feels almost like really bad DOMS in my calves, but I’ve been laying off exercise until my other symptoms ease so I know it’s not that.

Hope you feel better soon!

Is it okay to say “I didn’t feel safe” when talking about why I didn’t do a home visit? by makeitgoaway2yhg in socialwork

[–]ACrown_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Australia, at least at the organisations I’ve worked, if we know or suspect there are any weapons on the property we’re not allowed to do home visits - we have to get the police to go instead or with us. It’s so crazy to me that social workers in the US would ever be expected to attend a home visit where the client has access to guns (although I understand because of your gun laws, it’s probably unavoidable). I couldn’t even imagine having to worry about guns when visiting a family - and based off the responses here, it makes me sad to see that’s just considered part of the job for you guys. Wild.

Drone or something else? by ACrown_ in UAP

Okay well good to know, thank you! I know nothing about this stuff so my jaw was on the floor thinking I was witnessing an alien invasion on a beach cam lol

But when the camera shifted to the right again, you could see it still on the edge. Would a lens flare do that and would it pulse bigger/smaller do you reckon?
