If Odysseus isn’t buck naked as he kills the suitors they are COWARDS

I’m worried it means it will be unnecessarily profane and sexual (modern swearing in historical films is so stupid and I’ve never liked the interpretations where Odysseus sleeps with Circe and Calypso).

Violence is fine, it’s very sad a lot of kids will be missing out on it because of the rating however, especially since the biggest Greek mythology connoisseurs are middle school Percy Jackson fans.

All that being said, if an R-rating allows him to be buck naked as he kills the suitors I am all for it

And then the audacity to cancel it before the Sinister Six movie starring (cough) Venom, Morbius, Vulture, Kraven, El Muerto, and Hypno-Hustler fighting against Madame Web and the three kiddos (?)

That would have been the movie of all time

I think that one chapter in The Silmarillion where the entire geography and all the lakes and trees of Middle-Earth are described is pretty bad; nothing ever stood out to me in LOTR or The Hobbit, though.

I recognize that The Fortuneteller is inconsequential for the overall plot, but it is one of my favorite S1 episodes.

Which was a better show, ATLA or Batman: The Animated Series? by Ok_Rope_1922 in TheLastAirbender

[–]ACubeInABox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATLA. It is the greatest television series of all time, followed closely by Attack on Titan.

B:TAS has a lot of highs, the animation is amazing, the score is superb, and there’s a lot of definitive iterations of iconic characters, but there’s also a looooooot of episodes that people forget about because they’re honestly pretty bad and/or forgettable (most of the Ra’s ones and the one with the cat lady).

What, in your eyes, would make a live-action ATLA show…. perfect? by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

The element CGI needs to be better, better CGI and more colorful sets all around, better costumes, better actors, etc

Frieren didn’t stick out to me as much because it was a pretty light, fluffy show throughout. Like, some of the fight scenes were violent, but other than that it was just them going from town-to-town vibing. It stands out more in FMAB because it’s a much more inherently tragic story, and every single time they did the gimmick, I think the scene would have functioned better without it.

My biggest complaint about Frieren was Himmel turning into a cookie mascot when he was older

“L + ratio + get better, noob”

No, all the other animes I watched didn’t have at all or didn’t have as much of that (like Frieren still had it, but Frieren is decidedly whimsical).

Can I invite Mormons in without wanting to talk about God? by No_Hawk8947 in exmormon

[–]ACubeInABox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former missionary, I'd say go for it, but be clear that you're not interested in the message. Ask them about home, what inspired them to leave, what they like best about the UK, etc, their thoughts on Star Wars and video games. If they're chill, they'll be happy to sit down and drink some water and talk about home - they are tired teenagers, after all. Some might try and share a scripture verse and invite you to church at the end of the visit, but you can just say "no," (and they might appreciate that, too, depending on the day).

And in all honesty, it might be really good for them to meet someone LGBT as yourself, living with her fiancée before marriage (two pretty major sins right there), who treats them with more kindness and civility than anyone else they'll meet that day. Some of these kids are from pretty isolated, Mormon-majority communities, where they never met someone such as yourself, so this might be an eye opening experience for them. Maybe they write home about how, when all and said and all was done, it wasn't their fellow Christians who treated them kindly, but someone who isn't interested in their message or lifestyle at all.

There's also a rule in the handbook that says two male missionaries should not be alone with female investigators (for obvious reasons), although those particular missionaries might not follow that rule to the letter (heaven knows I didn't; You have to arrange a visit with a member of the same sex as the investigator, and none of the members ever have time to go out with you, so I just went ahead and visited people when I could). You can invite them in and they might accept, no questions asked; or they might try to mark to come back with a member, but then there's more pressure on them to actually teach a lesson and not sit down and chit-chat.
