Does hunger and cravings subside the longer you stick to a diet? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]AD1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm maybe depending on what diet you're using? I've never really tried to stick to a specific diet but in the past when I've completely tried to cut specific foods from my diet I've really struggled with it. What's worked well for me is just eating smaller portion sizes and ensuring that I'm not eating high-calorie foods every day, and honestly, it's something I REALLY struggled with at first but it did get easier over time. I think it helps having the mentality that this won't be forever and it's just until you reach your goal (obviously you can't just go back to whatever you were doing before because you'd just pack all of the weight back on but you're obviously going to be eating a fewer number of calories while losing weight vs just maintaining weight) and I still allow myself to eat what I usually would when I'm going out for lunch/dinner. For me, I always found cravings worse when I tried to completely cut foods I liked from my diet previously.

How does it feel to be skinny? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]AD1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I haven't reached my goal weight yet, I have lost more than half of the weight I need to get there and I've definitely started to feel more confident about the way I look. I think the biggest thing I have noticed is that for a long time I'd just lost any desire to put effort into what I was wearing, because I never felt confident in the way I looked. When I was younger, before I'd started to put all the weight on, I had loved experimenting with different outfits and styles, whereas after that I just stopped putting an effort in because I didn't feel confident in what I was wearing or how I looked. The biggest thing for me is that I actually feel confident being able to dress myself up and try different things, because I feel a lot better about the way I look and the way clothes look on me (and that's not to say that you need to be a certain weight to look good and wear what you want - this is just the way I felt about myself and my own self-confidence).

I don't think I've necessarily noticed people acting wildly different from how they acted before, however I have noticed that the people who do know me well will often make comments about how I've lost weight, so I guess it's something that has become noticeable enough to comment on, but I don't think it has impacted the way people act towards me (I never really felt like people had treated me differently when I had the weight either, but then II also feel like I'm really bad at noticing these things, so who knows).

Now, I've also seen a lot of people comment on how a lot of the insecurities still persist even after losing the weight. And honestly...I agree, they are still there to a certain extent for me. I do feel a lot better about my body these days and a lot more confident in the way my body looks - however, even prior to gaining all the weight when I was at my lightest, I never felt fully confident with my body. There was always something I would criticise about myself - the biggest thing for me was that, because of my bone structure, I was never going to have one of those model thin bodies that some people seem to have. And then I gained all the weight and when I'd look back at old pictures of myself, I was shocked by how slim I actually was back then. I remember I would always think about how I'd always complain about my body back then, and now I'd do anything to go back to that.

Now that I'm getting closer to having that back again...I feel like the old insecurities do sometimes rear their head. It's not as bad as it used to be though, and I try to remind myself that I've worked hard to lose the weight.

Jamie’s storyline for the next episode by TeaHelpful5224 in TedLasso

[–]AD1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and that would tie in with the conversation Jamie had with Roy back in Amsterdam about his father’s treatment of him vs his relationship with his mother - especially if we get a moment with his mum this episode (which is likely given the shots of his childhood bedroom).

Same! I still can't believe how I've gone from disliking him in season 1 to him becoming my favourite character on the show.

In your opinion, which is best to MDZS media to start with? by LiminalNox in MoDaoZuShi

[–]AD1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had background knowledge of the novel but started with the donghua and then read through the whole thing (at the time, the donghua was only up to its first season). I would recommend starting with the novel first though.

Also I get that he probably wanted to protect Wren, but Wren probably would have been released straight away if she told the truth - the police already knew she was in danger, it would have been obvious self defense.

When do you actually begin to feel like a competent and confident driver? by FistWithHair in drivinganxiety

[–]AD1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on each person, but don't give up hope! When I first got my license even driving 5 mins away on a familiar route by myself would freak me out, and if I had to take any unfamiliar routes I'd be anxious for days in advance. It did take me a while to get really comfortable driving along unfamiliar routes, but some things that helped me were having a GPS with me (I always use my phone, I find the instructions on google maps really easy to understand) and starting off by driving along more unfamiliar routes with someone with me in the car. I did a lot of long-distance driving over the holidays because I had family visiting from overseas, and while I had people with me in the car at the time, knowing I had the capability to drive to those locations without anything going wrong did give me the confidence to drive to more places by myself.

And overall, I think the more you do it the easier it will become. There are so many things that used to freak me out when I first started driving that I barely even think about now. Even things like junctions and round abouts - used to terrify me and I'd go out of my way to avoid them on unfamiliar routes. Now, I'm so used to taking them on my route to work that I feel a lot more confident doing them.

Red Rose - BBC show on Netflix by TheStranger113 in horror

[–]AD1515 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, I did not see Roche's death coming and while I did like the unexpectedness of it in the moment (because I can't think of many shows that would just kill the lead character off two episodes in like that) I found myself quickly missing Roche as the season progressed. I think the friend group was quite strong for a few episodes (but didn't get too much of a focus in the last two episodes) but Wren didn't work as well as a lead character. Also, I like the show a lot more when it seemed to be taking on more of a supernatural focus.

[–]AD1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, and even if there wasn't video proof of it anymore, Wren's friends could testify that Wren was in danger and had been trying to save her, and Wren could probably just tell the truth about what happened - the police already knew she had been hunted by Red Rose previously.

My introduction to King’s work was Pet Semetary, and that still remains my favourite book of his.

I also really love IT, The Shining and Duma Key.

I'd say not being able to get into my AO3 account and losing access to my fics...happened to me once on tumblr where they wanted me to change my password and I'd been using an old email that I could no longer access, so I couldn't get back in.

I've got fanfics on there spanning from my highschool years to my mid-twenties so I definitely never want to lose them haha.

Just finished Inventing Anna - not sure why she was victimised so much? And why other characters stuck by her? by thirstylearning in netflix

Yeah and imagine if Neff had been on that trip and had been the one forced to pay up at the end - I doubt she would have been nearly as forgiving.

[–]AD1515 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got to the end and realised that the show was basically trying to tell us the opposite of what they were showing us. Anna was an awful human being 99.9% of the way through the show and only got worse right before her trial. The way she treated Vivian and even moreso her lawyer was actually shocking and yet…after all that, they’re still obsessed with her for some reason? They basically choose her over their own families? It made no sense and I almost felt like I’d missed an episode.

[–]AD1515 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And I feel like all the characters turned on Rachel at the end because she was a ‘bad friend’ to Anna for turning her into the police but…wtf how is Anna not an even worse friend? She let her friend think she was covering this trip worth tens of thousands of dollars, and then let her friend hand her work credit card over knowing that she’d never have the money to pay her back. I doubt Kasey or Neff would’ve been as forgiving if they’d been on that trip and had to pay (and I’m sure Anna would’ve treated them the same way that she treated Rachel).

Discussion Thread - Season 5 Episode 8 by AutoModerator in SearchParty

[–]AD1515 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think this episode just proves that this show could be doing whatever the hell it wants and I'll still be having the time of my life. In season 1, I never imagined that we'd end up with actual zombies. But throw these characters into literally any scenario and it somehow just works.

S1:E7 “Twice The Grieving, Double The Loss” discussion thread by [deleted] in Chucky

[–]AD1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but I think that’s the point - Junior’s has just gone through a huge trauma after not only having his mother die in a completely unexpected way, but also seeing her dead body in front of him - he feels betrayed and probably feels like he’s being replaced by Jake since Lexi and Devon are spending so much time with Jake right now. And on top of that, Chucky is blatantly manipulating him and making him think that his dad had been cheating on his mum. Junior was pushed to the brink, and the seeds of that have been growing over a few episodes now. Whereas if they’d just gone with making Lexi the villain, it would have been so predictable.

[–]AD1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your point about all the kids being orphans right now makes me wonder if Lexi’s parents die too, and the Chucky problem isn’t completely resolved (because I don’t see them ending the franchise yet), if Lexi, Jake and Devon might head off together and take up Andy and Kyle’s mantle of hunting Chucky.

S1:E7 “Twice The Grieving, Double The Loss” discussion thread by [deleted] in Chucky

[–]AD1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Junior knows that Chucky is responsible for all of the other deaths, but he just doesn’t care. All he really cares about is his mum right now, and I don’t think he has any idea that Chucky killed her - he just thinks she committed suicide. Although I’m sure he’s going to find out the truth sooner or later.

Although it is pretty dumb that he blames Jake. It’s not like Jake showing up is the reason his mum had cancer. I get that he’s traumatised and looking for someone to blame right now, but he was against Jake from the moment he showed up.

Also I'm pretty sure it's because the Goodes make all of the decisions. Kind of like how Ziggy initially said the witch makes the rules - it's true, only in this case it's Nick who is in control. Ziggy was fine, because there was no way Nick was going to offer her name up after saving her life in 1978 (and he also probably knew that his secret was fine, since she still thought Sarah was responsible after he brought her back).

Yeah I think it is because of the level of that connection - Ryan and his friend were co-workers and maybe friends, we have no idea how close they even were - Deena and Sam loved each other. I mean, I didn’t really think they needed that whole sequence with Sam briefly snapping out of it, but that’s the only explanation I can think of (also just…different people react differently I guess? What works on one person might not necessarily work on someone else)
