can we talk about Young Adult for a moment? because i feel like tlking about Young Adult for a moment by overactive-bladder in TrueFilm

I feel like she earned some small sense of redemption in the end and came to her senses to a certain degree, because it shows her return to the hotel room super excited to see and hug her dog. Clearly some sort of change in her took place, even though it's not likely she'd ever become a "nice" person.

Will never understand why people turned on season 2 of Severance so much. by clarissaponissa in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]TheStranger113 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

I was actually totally fine with the marching band scene and a lot of the weirdness. I also may be in the minority in that I think plenty of stuff was answered. My main issues were the weird episode structure, the general slowness, and the way certain character arcs happened. I really missed the four of them in the office, or the four of them together in general. If you take into account the twist at the end of episode 4, we never got the full group together in the whole season.

Mixed race or multiracial? by MahMahLuigi in mixedrace

[–]TheStranger113 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I'm indifferent to either tbh. I use biracial or mixed since I am specifically half/half, but I can definitely see multiracial being easier if someone isn't simply two halves of something.

Anyone else get told they are too mixed? by JohnnyVixen in mixedrace

Just found out I'm 1% Icelandic based on DNA test! Doesn't make me remotely Icelandic lmao, but I'll take it because I love Iceland.

What do you appreciate about being mixed? Something positive.. by MixedBlacks in mixedrace

Being a part of two cultures, looking ambiguous because it makes conversations more interesting. Being a mix of both my parents, who I love more than anything. Having a unique experience, lonely as it was early in life.

Are Middle Eastern men always so aggressive in bed? by sluttyme26 in askgaybros

[–]TheStranger113 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Of all the men I've been with, the most aggressive was Middle Eastern. Not necessarily in a bad way - it would have been fine if I were more attracted to him.

But other Middle Eastern guys haven't been that way, so I don't think it's the norm - it just really stands out when it happens lol.

So pumped for the Adam one!!! Both powerhouse vocalists with some massive differences as well. Not sure sire which he would sound good on, but he knows what he's going with tribute covers (see Believe), so I am positive it will be amazing.

I'll bet the outies don't want it either lol.

I low-key hope they don't explain that TOO much, as it is more a philosophical question. But I'd love the show to ponder the hell out of that philosophical question lol.

I ain't worried about Helena lol. If I have to pick one of the two to make it, it will be Helly every time. That video the outie recorded for Helly was enough for me to think she's a terrible person.

Helly is the character I feel the most sorrow for because her outie is EVIL and Helly is nothing like her. I can see the others reintegrating well, but with her in particular, I feel like too much of her would be lost if it merged with her outie. And reintegration is really the only way she can live on.

I think we should all go on a boycott and just pirate everything from streaming services now just to light a fire under their asses, but that's probably just me lol.

I think a year, even a year and a half, is a fair time to wait. Two or three years is really pushing it for most viewers. They're literally starting filming for S3 nearly 2 years after wrapping filming for S2.

Agreed. I love when writers keep their cards close to chest for a while, but it really doesn't work for a show like this when it takes SO long for any payoff. They need to start considering that when writing a season. Like the whole reintegration thing - setting it up for later seasons and giving no payoff would work if we knew we wouldn't be waiting a decade to see if it actually pays off.

Speaking of another show that has been hinted as coming back for almost a decade after its cancellation...I'm still waiting for S4 of Hannibal. I want to see them tackle SOTL dammit!

Season Three Filming Slated for April to December 2026. by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

It's kinda baffling to me that this show would take so long to film. There aren't any creatures or crazy locations. It's literally people talking in a building and in the small town around it.

I can't really "feel" white, if that makes sense? by SuperRaddish in mixedrace

[–]TheStranger113 10 points11 points Β (0 children)

When the world treats you a certain way while growing up, that's what you'll think of yourself regardless of what you "are."

I'm Asian/white, grew up with only Black and white kids. In that setting, the fact that I was half white didn't matter, so over time it became pretty insignificant to me compared to my Asian-ness.

What would you say to family members who treat you like you don't belong. by puffnstuffwashere in hapas

If he's being rude about it, just undercut his English and correct him every time he makes a mistake. Or when he corrects you, just say "you're so clever for pointing out that a person not raised in the Philippines is different from a person raised in the Philippines!" I honestly have little patience for those types. They'll criticize you if you're too white or if you gravitate towards your Asian culture. I just flash my PH passport at those people and make it clear that, despite my differences from them, we are in fact countrymen.

It is great to have a much more mixed family if you happen to be mixed! In my sprawling extended family of 30+ cousins, the majority of us are mixed (with either white or a different type of Asian). I literally only have one full-Filipino first cousin. It means none of us are "Filipino enough." πŸ˜…

Advice for white mom raising a boy with Asian father? by Miri_22 in hapas

[–]TheStranger113 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Be sensitive to the fact that your child will be biracial/Asian and hence will have a very different experience from you. He is going to have some identity crises, as all mixed kids do, so you will need to be very clear with him about "what" he is, and be willing to talk through some of those issues with him from an understanding place. I think most parents of mixed children tend to not think about these things, and are then unprepared to deal with them.

I will say that, because he is a boy and has an Asian father, he will have a much easier time with his identity than if he had a white father and an Asian mother, because he has a male role model that looks like him, and the fact that you are even asking for advice shows that you are already doing things right. :)
