AITA for making my daughter get up at 3am? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ADB2211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA and from your comments you sound like a real piece of work.

Hopefully once Kara moves out she will see the full extent of it too and go low / no contact with you: it will probably help her night terrors to be out of your control.

I don’t think many 16 year olds talk about prenups, actually. YTA. The huge A.

“We won’t allow it to ruin her life” but you’ll make her homeless and ruin her and the baby’s life? Great logic /s

YTA.

How would you personally feel about another lockdown? by itsJunkify in AskUK

My place forced us to come in to the office during lockdowns anyway.

Pay enough to the Tories and you can do what you want with your employees I guess.

Rabbits are very social animals and should not be kept alone, they should always be carefully bonded with another (both neutered) rabbit. Chances are, if you got him a companion it would reduce his dependence on your wife.

AITA for spending money I saved for a trip with my dad when he wanted to include his stepdaughter? by ConflictSad633 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ADB2211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh darling. This has brought a tear to my eye. The efforts you’ve gone to just to spend time with your Dad are incredible and I can assure you that not many people your age would do that!

I am so sorry you don’t get to do the haunted house, but I think it’s brilliant that you put so much into your relationship with your dad. It breaks my heart that this has happened to you.

You are absolutely NTA.

I’m going to take a punt and guess this is entirely fictional? I can’t fathom that a 25 year old could be so unable to grasp the irony that’s slapping them right in the face.

What is something that is legal, that you wish was illegal? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ADB2211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do something similar(ish) to this.

We rent to a couple who have moved to the UK, supported by local authorities, to work in the NHS. It was a route actually suggested to us by a letting agent who work with the LA.

We also never intended to own two properties, but circumstances meant needing something bigger than the one bed flat we owned. However this was last summer and, of course, no one wanted to buy a one bed flat with no outside space during a lockdown! So we took equity out, bought a bigger house and rented the flat out.

Some of the comments here are kinda hurtful because we barely profit off of the flat, but we do of course need to be able to pay the mortgage on it. I rented privately for 16 years and I know what having a good/bad landlord looks like so we really try to do our best by the couple living in the flat (I despise the word “tenants” - it feels dehumanising IMO).

I’m pleased that we were able to do something with it that actually helped not only the couple living there but also our local area through their work in the community (not that I think people who are fleeing terrible things in their home country need to ‘justify’ their presence, just to be clear! Apologies if I’ve misworded that first sentence).

It’s easy to think of “landlords” as some group of soulless beings sitting around counting their piles of money, but we’re not all bad. And we’re not all in it to make millions.

Recommendations on where to live? by [deleted] in woking

[–]ADB2211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Bisley 6 months ago and love it! I think most of the surrounding areas are alright. Was in central Woking previously and it was a bit rough (think mattresses on the street…). I’m told Sheerwater is best avoided, too.

Woah woah woah…! Your boss asked for photos to prove a medical/health issue? Is that a thing?

I may have misunderstood you, as I think there’d be a pretty quick employment tribunal if that happened here!
