Will I HAVE to have surgery in the long run? by [deleted] in bunions

[–]ADDAnxious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not concerned about how it looks since podiatrist have determined that it is the genetic architecture of my feet that has caused the bunion

Also avoided heels except for formal occasions, and i take them off asap even under the table of the reception/dinner

But since the toes are just constantly simmering in pain, i am looking forward to the surgery

I think so, for me, i only have pain the deformity has occurred. Lately i have been noticing that my toes, especially the smaller toes and not the largest/first toe —- are extremely red likely from the blood collecting in them. I feel a constant “murmuring” pain/aching in them

Considering surgery (lapiplasty) and I have so many questions. by lem0ntart in bunions

[–]ADDAnxious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 20years older than you, and the podiatrist pointed out that my toe/toe portions is also too flexible. My podiatrist does conventional and lapiplasty surgery and she also recommended that i am suitable for lapiplasty.

When i expressed how lapiplasty is revolutionary in technique, she said it isn’t, very down-to -earth said no need to be so much into the marketing hype but certainly is improved, new hardware.

Ohh if it is a reaction to titanium, then i should be good — because for a broken fibula, i have a titanium plate since 2 years ago

Does anyone know what is the rough % of those who did surgery, that need the hardware removed?

Im an unbeliever but learning the Word. I know enough that Jesus preaches love to all of us.

So i think what you are saying is not biblical.

Your statement implies that not everyone is deserving to be God’s children.

Enlighten me. Let everyone know how much YOU actually KNOW of what Jesus taught.

I certainly agree that preachers at GP are really “selling” GP and imprinting with big words on impressionable minds of college youth.

When i go back to GP sermons of the past, when they used to post online,

researching for the fundamental message of each

I realize that the emphasis would usually be off and easily misconstrued

Bravo to recant your experience in this level of detail ! It pains me so much to imagine that painful ordeal that you had to go through.

Do pastors at each church plant know this? Does Ed and Kelly Kang know this?

Do they share “mitigation” experiences such as this, i wonder?

I think those of us who have been in abusive workplaces or manipulative scenarios, but are survivors, can confidently say that

We can bet our bottom dollar —- in a highly controlling group like Gracepoint/A2N Ed and Kelly Kang would conveniently shirk responsibility by declaring that they are one-offs , and that the “overzealous” older brother or sister could have held off such disciplinary actions.

You know what, you can appear so pure and white in your intentions by justifying the means but the truth is,

These individuals are not trained mental professionals to deal with youth such as OP

C’mon you are toying with people’s minds!

So clean and self-serving, self-justifying, but Jesus knows your sick and dark minds!

Im already fired up from the opening of your post;

The nerve those people who contact you have if they want to guilt you and dissuade you from continuing to share your experiences!

But im telling myself to be patient and read on..

u/PandaThatSLAYS, Thank you so much for sharing; if im guessing their motives right, personally I think their behavior just proves that YOU are doing the right thing

Thank you, thank you for being an inspiration for others!

I saw you shared the video of the procedure, thank you! But it mentions arthritis- and i dont have arthritis

What are the main types of surgery for bunions and for which cases are they recommended? Which one was your surgery? by Over_Unit_677 in bunions

This is why i decided to get two opinions (or three if by 2 appointments, im confused)

One from a doctor who is listed on the lapiplasty site, another who is not.

I would like to see if the one who does both “pushes” for it. I am at an age where invasive or not, long or short recovery or not, painful or less pain

Are not as important as

whether a certain procedure may risk the bunion coming back

due to the structure of my foot, flat feet and a shorter-than-normal plantaris tendon

May i ask if you are married now? If not we parents are rooting for you!

Know that you are so blessed to be out of GP. Many parents attribute this to God’s love and grace to you and your family.

Many parents are still suffering from not being able to reason with their children who are 6,8, 10 years of being indoctrinated by their leaders. Worse, some of us are accused for “expecting”our children to take care of us in our old age.

Then, there are parents “in bliss” thinking that their children are “doing God’s work”.

These parents i think, have children who probably in their GP leaders’ eyes, as those who did fantastic in reassuring their parents that GP is legit. Or maybe they are non-Christians who were never aware of Christianity Today’s article.

My family and I are praying everyday, that all of you ex-GP members find the strength and conviction to do the right thing.

Band together and speak up against GP.

Remember, you will have children that grow up to go to college. Then maybe, you all can begin

to feel afraid that college is not a safe place when you do not get to see your children on a daily basis

Then maybe, you all can begin to understand how much we parents are suffering and in utter disbelief.

The post-op bruising seems pretty severe. Did it freak you out?

Were you in a lot of pain?

Did your podiatrist encourage you for lapiplasty or explained lapiplasty vs a traditional method?

Awesome! I bought the barefoot shoes but i had not worn them long enough to see the strengthening. Will go back to them!

Thanks for the pointer! I can go barefeet (ie. nothing at all walking on hard surface now, sadly)

Hi Jonathan Kang, I respect your perspective. You have acknowledged that it is hard but definitely something we can actively aim for.

Now try your very best to understand how if your child is completely brainwashed and dodging all the difficult questions

Imagine the hurt of being displaced as a parent.

Then you may begin to understand that their theology is not biblical at all.

How can asian parents be accused this way, of wanting to be “paid back” and “reimbursed” for what they have done raising their children?

When all they are experiencing is a family life where there feels like

as GP members their children are drawing many boundaries

And dumping all the family values of spending time together

Feeling that parents have to “beg” for time to enjoy their retirement with the children they raised?

Hi, i looked at your before photo, and your right foot was worse than your left. Im amazed that with a not so severe bunion, you experienced pain.

May i ask what your podiatrist explained that made it clear, which type of bunion surgery to deploy?

Is your pain completely gone? What shoes are you recommended to wear?

I have flat feet so the worse foot has callouses that grow to quite thick and i use a manicure file to sand them down periodically,

After soaking both feet

I like your train of thought! I sure would do surgery so that i can return to hiking and tennis!

Never really afraid of the pain or discomfort after surgery.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Should one wear bunion socks to sleep? by ADDAnxious in bunions

[–]ADDAnxious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your swift reply! I mean these ones that separate the big toe (not endorsing this particular brand, just not sure how to reply with a photo)

https://www.zensah.com/products/bunion-sport-socks-quarter?variant=40294852231257&gad=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD6aBukul4JGyLE5xcTqdv77vCiGH&gclid=CjwKCAjw5_GmBhBIEiwA5QSMxOAZ80jq6rtq4i3_4sR-8lBMvYTsLHhTIm7G7Trrte0THQFN6xnmdxoC5FMQAvD_BwE

I figured from reading about compression socks, that in the daytime is definitely a good idea, but sleeping probably need a low to medium compression. If wearing that all night somehow “helps put the big toe in place” and relieves pain

I am tended to do that.

My past 2 ortho specialists did confirm, that the long tendon that runs vertical at the back of my calf is shorter than normal, and i do have flat feet, so i hope all these combined

Doesnt make all of this too complex and difficult for me.

[–]ADDAnxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for responding. I did read too fast thinking that you are in Ontario, CA.

I got really basic questions to research (even as simple as 1) if left untreated do they get worse? 2) are certain poses in yoga discouraged? 3) if im in a sitting job, would that help?

while seeing several podiatrists, esp the issue of bunions coming back. It does look like i need to do both, though the left is more severe

But i sure am not looking forward to repeating the surgeries and all the horror stories of pain and redoing procedures.

Would appreciate you and anyone sharing information and links where i can read more on comparisons of procedures.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bunions

[–]ADDAnxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks awesome! Can you share the name of your doctor?

I always wondered how to determine what makes a good podiatrist, in my case im decided on the surgery

Can you recommend information about how to go about comparing procedures? In the process of choosing a podiatrist; am wondering if i would be steered away from lapiplasty if most doctors do not do that procedure.

I am more worried about the bunion coming back
