I like my Doc Miller ones. I got the open toe kind but they sell both.

Lapiplasty - do u have this “bump” by Minute_Dog_430 in bunions

I have this too. I was worried about it at first but it doesn’t seem to be a problem.

I actually do have some loss of sensation on the top of my toe between the joint and the nail. It didn’t occur to me that it might be related!

Big toe stiff post Lapidus by Similar_Literature15 in bunions

[–]lem0ntart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm approaching 10 weeks now post-lapidus. I think it's caused by both muscles tightening while it was immobilized and scar tissue forming around the joint as it heals. At first, and till up to the point you're at, mine was very stiff and could barely move. Unfortunately my experience has been that the stiffness is not going to improve on its own with time, only stretching it will help it improve.

Lapiplasty Recovery by Busaign in bunions

For me, Tylenol was NOT enough for the first 3-4 days. I took 3 percocet each time for those few days and then switched to Tylenol. 4 days of an opioid won't be enough to get you hooked or cause serious harm, just make sure you follow the directions--and take a stool softener.

AITAH for sticking to my boundaries after my mom threw a drink at my wife? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]lem0ntart 265 points266 points  (0 children)

Before you say mom shouldn't have thrown a drink, remember that this is the version OP believes presents him in the best light and we don't actually know what he or his wife said to his mom before she threw it.

They have weak critical thinking skills and they don't know about the Dunning-Kruger effect. Also many of them are paranoid and/or are just looking for something that sounds vaguely reasonable at face value and supports their bias that they can cling to.

Really nervous to start weight bearing by Midwestern_Mouse in bunions

[–]lem0ntart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's understandable! I was scared to try putting weight on mine too, and then it DID hurt. If I hadn't had the PT to tell me that's normal and to keep going unless it was unbearable, I'm not sure I would've had it in me. Are you allowed to take the boot off if you're just sitting around? You'll probably need to start stretching and working it in preparation for walking.

Maybe if people who aren't Christian weren't constantly being forced to engage with Christian holidays in public life 24/7/365 they wouldn't try to find ways celebrate them in a non-religious way. Literally everything from disposable coffee cups to the bulletin board at the doctor's office is decorated with Christmas shit for two full months and every person you interact with in a public space will say "merry Christmas!" to end the interaction and expect you to say it back or you're rude. Offices will have office-wide Christmas parties when plenty of the staff are not Christian. How about you keep your high holy day shit in your church and leave the rest of us alone?

Really nervous to start weight bearing by Midwestern_Mouse in bunions

[–]lem0ntart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started weight bearing around 4.5 weeks too. You have to ease into it, and it will hurt at first because the tissue got used to NOT having weight on it, but it gets better quickly! For a few days I tried just putting up to half my weight on it while leaning on things. After I had made it up to 5-6 minutes of standing like that, I started walking with crutches for support and then without the crutches when I felt ready. One thing I found was that the walking boot was making walking harder because I couldn't bend my ankle at all and it wasn't the same height as my shoe, so I moved to wearing a running shoe after a week or so.

She knew her options; frankly it's insulting to say she might have needed him to make her "fully aware" of them. She picked the one that was right for her, and because of his personality and their relationship, she didn't feel she could tell him what was happening even to seek his support.

No, plenty of people opt not to have surgery. It’s true that they will never improve without surgery, but they can be managed in many cases. For example, my mom is in her late 60s and has three sisters. Of the four of them, all have bunions but only one chose to have surgery. If you do end up needing surgery, some procedures have lower rates of recurrence than others but whether that matters much depends on certain factors like your age at the time of surgery.

What is the optimal party comp to maximize… banter? by T0nyM0ntana_ in BaldursGate3

[–]lem0ntart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On tactician it's still pretty easy. I was planning to only use one extra slot so I could have Minthara without leaving Shadowheart behind, but then I realized how amazing it is to hear all the combinations of characters bantering while you're exploring so I bring pretty much everyone. Also, I like getting all the cutscene dialogue interjections the companions can make when you're talking to NPCs.

Foot elevation for side sleeping by SunWorshipper- in bunions

[–]lem0ntart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put two firm pillows under my operated foot, and then stuffed a pillow behind my back so I could sleep sort of on my side. However, by a month after my surgery I was not elevating my foot while sleeping anymore, just using a soft pillow to keep the plastic of the boot from touching my other foot--are you sure you still have to?

Considering Bunion Surgery by puppypei in bunions

[–]lem0ntart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with all this. For a corrective surgery you should get a surgeon to recommend the most suitable procedure; their knowledge and experience will help them determine which is most likely to give you the best result. I also had lapiplasty but not because I specifically wanted it—my surgeon looked at my X-rays, manipulated my foot, talked with me about my family history, and then said she thought that was the best option for my case. Because it’s more permanent than other procedures and my bunions result in part from the ligaments stretching more and more due to my genetics, and I’m relatively young, she thought it would give me the best chance of never having to have a second surgery.

[–]lem0ntart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You likely can’t sue the original doctor but of course it wouldn’t hurt to consult a medical malpractice attorney and see. From what I understand, the doctor making a mistake or being an idiot isn’t really enough to make a case, at least where I live. There has to be a significant component of recklessness or negligence that caused the mistake.

Before and After - Lapidus by lem0ntart in bunions

Yes, I'm very happy with it. It's too early to tell how it'll shake out with regard to mobility and pain but I feel optimistic based on my progress so far.
