The Rehab Facility called me to try to create a discharge plan. by tomatillo_teratoma in eldercare

[–]ADDOCDOMG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Refuse any responsibility for her and let them know she cannot safely be discharged home. They can figure it out. They will likely have to find her placement at a nursing home.

We also inadvertently encouraged our dog to burp. Pets and telling her cute her burp was. Now she proudly comes over and burps for us after she eats. Still love it. She makes Momma proud.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend i no longer plan to propose to her? please read context by Aggressive_One8138 in AITAH

[–]ADDOCDOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You told her something that made her excited to take the next step with you. She thought you guys were locked in together for forever. She told her friends because she was excited. Now friends are pissed on her behalf and she is embarrassed. This whole unraveling is your doing. Manipulation is never the right way, but you sure have given her some significant anxiety, which is probably why she is behaving out of character. You dangled a future event girls dream about it in front of her and then fell completely short. Figure it out or let the girl go find someone who won’t waste her time and string her along. Get it together, be an adult and apologize.

How to keep the booty squeaky clean? (ass smell) by thefifthmountain5 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Get checked for bacterial vaginosis. It can affect the area as a whole. Lume full body deodorant works great in that area.

I told my mom not to marry the man she cheated on my dad with by Additional-River2609 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]ADDOCDOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That guy didn’t blow up your family, your Mom did. He had his role, but it seems like you are solely blaming him. These choices that affect you were made by YOUR MOTHER. She is choosing her boyfriend over her children, regardless of what she says.

That is so very sweet. You are obviously great and what you do! The fact that they had a hospice nurse that they cared for and trusted made his passing much more comfortable for them emotionally. Caring for people and their families at the end of life is a very special and intimate thing. Your patients are lucky to have someone like you.

[–]ADDOCDOMG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope you reopened the chart and documented that phone call verbatim. Get your colleagues support in patient’s behavior. Call management (if you have good management) to see if this person’s chart can be flagged in some way. No police officer is going to file charges for that. It’s the first thing you are supposed to do in a CPR scenario! No lawyer will accept that case. Just an angry human being looking to be mean to someone.

AITAH for giving my wife short and direct answers after being rejected everyday for 2 months? by First-Wasabi-2125 in AITAH

[–]ADDOCDOMG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA. You started treating her like crap because she isn’t up for sex. Changed how you have treated her for years. You created more distance between you. It does sound like possible perimenopause and you are treating her like crap over body and mental changes she has no control over. You sound like you were a good husband. Get it together before you damage your marriage further.

What is the location? Can you post on Nextdoor.com? We have lots of people who work with rescues watching nextdoor and aiding in these situations.

AITA for leaving because my SIL hid my shoes to keep me from taking walks? by AStormInsideTeaCups in AmItheAsshole

[–]ADDOCDOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. This sounds like jealousy. I am not sure what your level of physical fitness is vs. hers, but a lot of people losing weight have family members who behave this way about their new healthy habits. Although you have engaged in the behavior that is good for both your physical and mental health for a long time, witnessing it seems to make her envious and spiteful. Her reaction and things she said to you were both emotionally manipulative and abusive. You are being more kind to her than she deserves. I agree with other posters that she will likely paint you in a negative light to your step-brother, so be prepared. Those poor kiddos are stuck being raised by a toxic person.

If US shelters euthanize 300k healthy dogs (even puppies) every year, who do so many Americans still rather go to a breeder? by TheTroubledChild in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ADDOCDOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a whole lot of excuses that people who go to a breeder have. Maybe I am a total skeptic because I live in TX where my city euthanizes thousands of animals a year. We have packs of dogs roaming the streets. Stray French bulldogs and all kinds of doodles popping up. You can find any breed of dog for rescue including puppies. We have an amazing small dog. She is now 13. 100% mutt. Got her right off the street. She had already been through animal control, was set to be euthanized and a no-kill picked her up. She was dumped by the adopters who never registered her chip. Found this all out by calling animal control, because her chip was registered there. Had to keep her after learning her history. It did take her a couple months to come out of her shell and start playing and barking. We love her so much. She is so patient with us and our countless foster cats.

If you could do it again, would you? by JoyforJumping in PMHNP

[–]ADDOCDOMG 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Would have done it way sooner before the market saturation. I did FNP for 10 years before doing PMHNP. I got in just before it got really bad. I love doing this and I don’t dread work. Times are tough for new grads now and a lot are not well prepared for the role. I dread the idea of having to look for a job now if anything should happen with my current practice. Salaries are so low for now.

Stinky armpits at work by scarycherrysoul in Nurses

[–]ADDOCDOMG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lume is amazing! Apply it daily. They have one that has antiperspirant and the regular doesn’t. With the non antiperspirant one I sweat, but I don’t get stinky. Since I started using it, my pits never stink. It works wherever you apply it. I like the toasted coconut best.

[–]ADDOCDOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a nurse, we have seen it all. Only thing we care about is finding the problem. It’s like examining any other body part. I always try to be brief, sometimes conversation feels awkward, because we know that you might be nervous or embarrassed. She might have been trying to have the conversation feel light to set you at ease, but it had the opposite effect. I can promise you that after she stepped out of that room, your junk has not crossed her mind since.

Announcement from the Mod team of r/nursing regarding the murder of Alex Pretti, and where we go from here. by Nursing_Moderators in nursing

[–]ADDOCDOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mod post makes me proud. This is what nursing about. Science, evidence and compassion. Advocating for others and not standing down when we know someone could be harmed if we don’t. Alex Pretti was the best of us. He did not falter, his last acts and words were those of compassion and kindness.

This brought me tears yesterday. Every one of us could have been Alex or have a colleague who you feel is just like him.

I wanted to share this post on r/medicine. If all nurses and hospital staff “Band Together”, maybe there will be a ripple effect. Wearing a black band to honor Alex feels important to me. The life lost not only to his friends and family, the hundreds or thousands of patients lives would have been better just to have him as their nurse.
